Diane Knox Balas loves golf (she’s Scottish, so of course she does) but let’s just say she’s much better at analyzing golf than playing! The same cannot be said for her brother, Russell Knox, who’s a 2-time winner on the PGA Tour and fueled Diane’s initial passion for the sport. A seasoned TV and radio host, Diane has given out 8 outright winners since joining the Pickswise team in April 2022. Her general rule is she has to have three stand-out reasons for each pick and spends her time studying stats, playing form and little nuggets of information from golfers’ lives on Tour. Diane lives in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband Garrett, son Greyson and two English Bulldogs Bowser & Barkley. You can follow her antics on Twitter @KnoxyDiane and Instagram @dianeknoxbalas. In addition to my main picks for the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews, there are a couple more golfers I expect to have a strong week in Scotland who are worth backing in the props markets for a high finish. Let’s take a look at why I expect a bold show from Will Zalatoris and Louis Oosthuizen.

Knox’s 2022 Open Championship top prop picks

Will Zalatoris top-5 finish (+500) DraftKings

I can’t leave Will Zalatoris off my card for the final major of the year with his major record. He’s finished runner-up in the other three (2021 Masters and the PGA Championship and U.S. Open this year) and he really seems to rise to the occasion on the grandest stages in golf. I’m not betting him to win, but I have little doubt he’ll be in contention at some point this week.

Louis Oosthuizen top-10 finish (+350) DK Sportsbook

When you have a win and a 2nd-place finish in The Open when it has been at St Andrews, you step onto that hallowed ground with an air of confidence. I like Louis’ track record in majors generally, but it’s tough to gauge his game of late since he joined LIV. His first two tournaments on the rebel tour resulted in a T10 and a 5th place finish, but it’s hard to compare that to his prior PGA Tour performances as the format is so different. However, I’m taking that as evidence of some form and putting Louis on my card this week for a top-10 finish.
