The 2022 college football season is underway and Sunday provides us with an entertaining nonconference matchup. This battle will take place on Sunday night when Florida State travels to New Orleans for a matchup against the LSU Tigers. This contest kicks off at 7:30 pm ET and will be televised on ESPN.

But before we get started, be sure to check out all of our NCAAF previews for this weekend.

Let’s get into our same game parlay for this primetime matchup.

Florida State ML (+130)

First Half Under 24.5 (-115)

Treshaun Ward over 59.5 rushing yards (-115)

Parlay odds: +475

Florida State ML (+130)

This is an intriguing matchup between two traditional powers in college football. However, neither team is expected to be a contender in their respective conferences this season. With that said, Florida State does present value at the current number. This game is being played in New Orleans, which gives LSU a decent “home field” advantage. However, there are so many questions surrounding the Tigers in Brian Kelly’s debut that it’s hard to know what we’re getting. I would say that LSU is the more talented team on paper. However, that might not matter in a season-opening game against a Seminoles team that has much more continuity.

In year 3 with Mike Norvell at the helm, Florida State is primed for a statement nonconference win. Jordan Travis has all the tools at quarterback, and the offensive line play and receiving corps are the best he’s had at his disposal as a starter. The Tigers have a fierce defensive front, but there are some weaknesses to be had in the secondary. In a game that I think should be priced as a true pick’em, I like the getting the ‘Noles at this number.

First Half under 24.5 (-110)

Honing in on correlating results is typically helpful when betting a same game parlay. In this instance, I think a Florida State win pairs well with a low-scoring game. However, in order to limit my risk with a possible scenario involving overtime, I’ll stick to a first half under. Getting this total at over 24.5 is important, as this is a key number in football totals. For example, common scorelines of 14-10, or 17-7 wouldn’t be enough to send the first half over this total.

Being as it’s the season-opener, both offenses should spend the first quarter figuring things out. This is typically the case in Week 1, especially in a game featuring these front sevens. The Tigers have one of the best defensive lines in the nation and should impose their will early. On the other side, a reshaped offensive line and new LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels should struggle to find a rhythm against a confident Florida State defensive line.

Treshaun Ward over 59.5 rushing yards (-115)

For the final leg of our same game parlay, we’re going with Treshaun Ward over his rushing yards total. While LSU does boast a stout defensive front, Florida State’s identity starts with running the ball. Therefore, a Seminoles win should pair well with a solid game from their top running back. Ward averaged 9.1 yards per carry in the ‘Noles Week 0 victory, following a 2021 campaign in which he averaged 6.4 yards per carry. Ward’s workload should increase this year, as shown in last weekend’s victory. With that in mind, the sophomore should tally at least 60 rushing yards on Sunday.
