Five weeks in, the 2022 college football has already been a wild ride with plenty of upsets, some thrilling finishes, surprising teams and big disappointments. What will be in store as October continues? Week 6 includes a 3:30 pm ET CBS showdown between SEC rivals Georgia and Auburn, while a Big Ten battle later in the day pits Ohio State against Michigan State. There are 3 all-top 25 showdowns as well.

Here are my favorite player props, and also be sure to check out all of our coverage on the college football page.

C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State, under 330.5 passing yards (-115)

C.J. Stroud is one of the best players in the nation, but 330.5 is a big number – for anyone. The star sophomore has exceeded this line just twice in 5 games in 2022 and in the other 3 games he threw for no more than 281 yards. Last season he surpassed it in only 2 road games, first against a terrible Nebraska team and then during a loss to Michigan in which Ohio State trailed the entire way and Stroud had to throw the ball 49 times. Michigan State is not terrible, nor is Ohio State likely to trail much, if at all. The Spartans’ best defense may be trying to keep the Buckeyes’ offense off the field, so look for the home team to run it as much as possible and keep the clock moving.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia, over 41.5 receiving yards (-115)

Ladd McConkey has gone over this number in 3 of 5 games this season, always with a double-digit amount of yards to spare. The only 2 times he has failed to do so were when he finished with 37 and 37 yards. Coming off a way-too-close 26-22 win over Missouri in which the offense struggle, Georgia is surely going to come out blazing and try to pin a huge team total on Auburn. That is exactly what they did last year, blowing out the Tigers 34-10 in a contest that was 24-3 midway through the third quarter. McConkey exploded for 135 yards and a touchdown on 5 receptions against Auburn last fall. There is no reason why another bad Tigers team is suddenly going to hold him in check, especially when the defense has to focus most of its attention on tight end Brock Bowers.

Devon Achane, RB, Texas A&M, over 73.5 rushing yards (-115)

Alabama’s defense is great, but I expect Devon Achane to get a ton of carries. Texas A&M isn’t likely to stop the Crimson Tide defense and its only chance to keep this one close is to shorten the game by keeping the ball on the ground and running the clock. Achane has rushed at least 16 times in all but 1 game so far this season and he is coming off performances of 159 and 111 yards against Arkansas and Mississippi State respectively. Facing ‘Bama last year before he became RB1 for the Aggies, Achane carried 7 times for 34 yards – a solid average of 4.9 YPC.
