The FIFA Club World Cup is in full swing, and I’m back with additional picks for the slate of games on Friday, June 20. We’re into the second round of group stage games, and the entire slate for Friday is here:
- Benfica vs Auckland City – noon ET
- Flamengo vs Chelsea – 2 PM ET
- LAFC vs Esperance Sportive de Tunis – 6 PM ET
- Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors – 9 PM ET
All eyes will be on the day’s second match, while the nightcap should be filled with goals. Let’s dive into my favorite FIFA Club World Cup picks and best bets for Friday’s slate.

Flamengo vs Chelsea best bet: Flamengo +0.5 (+100)

The excitement for Friday’s slate truly begins with the second match of the day, as Flamengo and Chelsea battle for the top spot in Group D. Both teams grabbed 2-0 victories in their opening match, as the Brazilian side dispatched Esperance Sportive de Tunis while Chelsea dismantled LAFC 2-0. Of the two wins, I was more impressed with Flamengo, but they were also playing the weaker team, so it remains to be seen how they match up against this Chelsea side. However, they’ve now extended their unbeaten streak to eight games and picked up at least one point in 16 of their 18 matches in all competitions.
Although Chelsea also grabbed a 2-0 victory, the way they won wasn’t as impressive. The Blues received a glorious goal from Pedro Neto in the first half before new signing Liam Delap assisted Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the 79th minute, but LAFC had their fair share of chances that they couldn’t put away. I expect Flamengo to get similar chances, and the Brazilian side is more than capable of scoring, as they’ve found the back of the net in 9 of their previous 10 contests. Expect a cagey affair in this game, as Flamengo should be able to pick up a point at a minimum.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors prediction: Harry Kane Anytime Goalscorer and Over 2.5 Goals (-110)

The last game of Friday’s slate has Bayern Munich taking on Boca Juniors in what should be a high-scoring affair. The Germans won their opening match against Auckland City 10-0, as I successfully cashed my best bet for the game. They looked dominant, scoring 4 goals in the first 21 minutes and another 2 before the halftime whistle. Surprisingly enough, Harry Kane didn’t join the scoring, and the England international was subbed off in the 61st minute for Jamal Musiala, who scored a second-half hattrick. Although Kane failed to score, I expect him to get on the scoresheet tomorrow, as the striker has a goal in 11 of his last 15 games for club and country.
Boca Juniors played an exciting opening match against Benfica, finishing in a 2-2 draw. The Argentinian side went up 2-0, but Benfica was awarded a penalty kick from VAR in the 45th minute, which led to Boca Juniors Ander Herrera picking up a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. The former Manchester United man wasn’t even on the pitch, as he picked up an injury and was subbed off in the 20th minute, but his red card didn’t help them by any means. Benfica scored the penalty and tied the game in the 84th minute after Benfica’s Andrea Belotti also picked up a red card in the 72nd minute. It’s safe to say that the excitement from this match will have taken a toll on the Argentinian side, and I expect Bayern to capitalize.
The Germans went 10-4-1 in their final 15 Bundesliga games, and their 10 victories averaged 4.1 goals per contest, with 9 of those games ending with 3+ goals. Expect more of the same tomorrow night, as Kane scores at least once as Bayern Munich cruises to victory.
