The Vegas Golden Knights made an impressive statement in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Colorado Avalanche. Vegas never trailed in the game and secured a 4-2 win on the road to hand Colorado just its 2nd loss of the postseason. Now, a pivotal Game 2 awaits on Friday night at Ball Arena with puck drop slated for 8:10 p.m. ET. Will the Golden Knights steal each of the first 2 games on the road? Or will the Avs even things up before the series shifts to Vegas?
With puck drop for Game 2 almost here, I have picked out my Golden Knights vs Avalanche parlay picks on Friday, May 22, with lines and odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Over 6.5 (+110)
Nathan MacKinnon 4+ shots on goal (-175)
Jack Eichel anytime goalscorer (+225)
Golden Knights vs Avalanche parlay odds: +625
Golden Knights vs Avalanche parlay pick: Over 6.5 (+110)
Game 1 featured 6 total goals and stayed under the listed total of 6.5. With the same total heading into Game 2, things could be a bit different. The Avalanche entered Game 1 having not played in a week, and it was evident. Colorado had flashes of offensive pressure to begin the contest, but they weren’t able to capitalize. Colorado was held scoreless over the first 2 periods before potting a pair of goals in the 3rd period to make things a little more interesting. It was too little too late, and after such a slow offensive start, look for the Avs to come out firing with an aggressive offensive approach in Game 2.
Colorado goaltender Scott Wedgewood has been fairly up-and-down lately. Over his last 4 postseason starts, the veteran netminder has posted save percentages of .889, .750, .935, and .833. Thus, it’s tough to know what to expect from him on a nightly basis right now. The Vegas offense has scored 4.2 goals per game over their last 5 contests, and it’s clear Wedgewood is not on his sharpest game right now. Look for the Golden Knights to give Wedgewood more problems in Game 2.

Golden Knights vs Avalanche parlay pick: Nathan MacKinnon 4+ shots on goal (-175)
Nathan MacKinnon orchestrated a 6-game goal streak spanning from Game 4 against Los Angeles in the first round to Game 5 against Minnesota in the second round. He fired 4+ shots on goal in all but one of those contests, and is now averaging 3.9 shots on goal per game through 10 playoff games. After being held without a goal in Game 1, I expect MacKinnon to put plenty of pucks on net in Game 2.
MacKinnon officially put 3 shots on net in Game 1, but that number could have very easily been higher. MacKinnon found himself with solid shooting chances on multiple occasions, but just couldn’t get the puck on target. Simply put, I don’t expect that to happen again in Friday night’s contest. Looking to avoid an 0-2 hole on home ice, the Avalanche will turn to MacKinnon early and often. Look for the Colorado superstar to rack up at least 4 shots on goal.

Golden Knights vs Avalanche parlay pick: Jack Eichel anytime goalscorer (+225)
Vegas’ Jack Eichel came close to potting an empty net goal in Game 1, but his long range shot ended up just wide of the cage in the final minute of the game. Eichel fired 3 shots on goal in the contest and is now up to a team-leading 38 shots on goal so far in the playoffs. However, he has potted just a single goal. He has now gone 10 straight games without finding the back of the net, but it seems to be only a matter of time before he lights the lamp again.
Eichel’s postseason shooting percentage sits at a measly 2.6%, which is well below his regular season shooting percentage of 10.4%. He has seen plenty of high danger chances and continues to be heavily involved in Vegas’ offensive attack. While he has just one goal, he has still racked up 16 points in 13 postseason games. His shooting volume has been steady, and he is still seeing plenty of ice time on Vegas’ top line and first power play unit. Don’t be surprised if Eichel breaks through and scores a goal in Game 2.
