3:46 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Congruent 5/1 (1-star play)
Race 9 at Gulfstream Park is the first of 4 straight stakes races and we begin with the Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy, which features 8 three-year-old colts going to post for a purse of $175,000 and one who can go well is Congruent in stall 7. Antonio Sano’s colt broke his maiden at this course and has ran well in stakes races here the last twice so he looks to be the value play.
4:17 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 10) – Atomically 3/1 (2-star play)
The Forward Gal Stakes is a very competitive affair in which a case can be made for a fair few in this field but none more so than Atomically, who was last seen finishing seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. This daughter of Girvin was very impressive when winning a Black Type event by six-and-three-quarter lengths here last October, and this race looks to be well within her compass.
5:01 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 11) – Stephanie’s Charm 12/1 (1-star play)
Stephanie’s Charm is improving as she gains more experience and Jose Ortiz’s mount can put her best foot forward at double-figure odds in the Grade 3 Sweetest Chant, which is being run over an extended mile on the turf. She was staying on nicely while recording her best speed figure to date with a second-place finish over a mile on this course last time, so this extra distance should be perfect for her and a bold bid beckons.
5:43 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 12) – Cyclone Mischief 2/1 (2-star play)
A field of 8 males go to post for the $250,000 Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes, which is the finale at Gulfstream Park and this year’s renewal can go to the Dale Romans trained Cyclone Mischief. He looks to be the trainer’s leading Kentucky Derby hope and by the way in which he easily won an Allowance Optional Claimer here last time it is clear to see why so, with more improvement to come, he should take all the beating.
