Unbeaten in his last 6 starts, he ended last year with a fairly comfortable victory in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint over 6 furlongs at Keeneland in November. The pick showed good form when taking out a valuable G3 sprint contest in Saudi Arabia at the end of February. Given a break since registering an impressive three-and-a-quarter-length victory that day, he comes here on the back of a some eye-catching 4-furlong works and he is expected to deliver a victory.

Unbeaten in 3 starts in his native France, the gelding has won 3 of his 4 outings since joining the Arnaud Delacour barn. Those efforts have been spread out over a period of over 13 months, including when delivering his best speed figure to date in racing close to the pace prior to registering a three-and-a-half-length victory in the Grade 1 Makers Mark mile over a mile at Keeneland in April. The gelding rates a solid pick in this event.

The filly gained revenge for a defeat at the hands of Secret Oath in the Grade 2 Azeri at Oaklawn Park in March when seeing off that rival by a neck in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom over a mile-and-one-sixteenth at the same venue in April. Has been kept busy with a string of works at Churchill Downs since and is expected to prove hard to beat with regular jockey Joel Rosario booked to ride for trainer Steve Asmussen.

The winner in 9 of his last 10 starts, the sole defeat in that run came when encountering a sloppy main track in the Grade 3 Westchester over a mile here in May last year. Since then the Curlin entire has delivered 4 consecutive victories including at the highest level in each of his last 3 outings. Step back up to a mile is no issue following a win in the 7-furlong Churchill Downs Stakes last month.

Made marked improvement in 2023 including when delivering a three-and-three-quarter-length third in the Grade 1 Makers Mark Mile over a mile at Keeneland on his first start in stakes company. Followed that effort up with an impressive three-and-three-quarter-length victory in the mile-and-one-eighth Grade 1 Turf Classic at Churchill Downs last month. Shaped as if this step up in trip would suit that day and with further improvement in the cards is taken to complete a double.
