KBO picks and predictions

Friday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

LG Twins ML (-148) over Lotte Giants

The Lotte Giants finished their series against the Doosan Bears with a 5-1 win on Thursday. The Giants are now 32-38-3 on the season and are in a tie for 7th place in the league standings. They will start Kim Jin-Uk, who is 2-3 in 2022 and has an ERA of 5.59. In 9 starts he has allowed 23 earned runs over 37.0 innings.

The LG Twins had their game canceled on Thursday morning, so they come into this game with a record of 43-29-1. The Twins are 3rd place in the league standings and will start Kim Yun-Sik on Friday morning. Yun-Sik is 2-3 and has an ERA of 3.99. In 10 starts he has allowed 21 earned runs over 47.1 innings.

Both starters are average to below average, but Yun-Sik has been much more consistent as of recently. For that reason, backing the Twins will be the play.

Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz – Under 7.5 runs (+104)

The total looks to be the better play in this matchup based on the heavyweight pitching matchup. Robert Stock has allowed 4 or more runs in just 4 starts this year. In 3 starts against the KT Wiz he has allowed 4 runs (2 earned) over 18.0 innings.

On the other side, Ko Young-Pyo has allowed 4 or more runs in just 3 starts. He is coming off a poor start against the LG Twins, but over his last 3 starts, he has still allowed just 7 earned runs over 21.2 innings, which includes a complete game shutout. In 2 starts against the Bears he has allowed 4 earned runs over 14.0 innings. With the success both starters have had against each other’s teams, backing the under looks to be worth a play.

Samsung Lions ML (-148) over NC Dinos

The Samsung Lions were on the wrong end of a blowout on Thursday, losing to the KT Wiz 13-2. The Lions are now 35-40 in 2022 and in 6th place in the league standings. They will start Albert Suarez, who is 4-5 and has an ERA of 2.31. In 15 starts Suarez has allowed 22 earned runs over 85.2 innings.

The NC Dinos had their game canceled on Thursday morning due to rain, so they are still 27-43-2. They are still riding a 4-game losing streak and are 9th place in the league standings. The Dinos will counter with Lee Jae-Hak, who is 0-7 on the season and has an ERA of 5.12. In 10 starts he has allowed 26 earned runs over 45.2 innings.

Fading Jae-Hak is almost an automatic because of the fact that he has yet to win a game this year. Suarez has been too consistent to not expect a good outing, so for that reason backing the Lions will be the play.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Friday, July 1st

Hanwha Eagles +2.5 (-136) over Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes won on Friday, while the Hanwha Eagles had their game canceled due to poor field conditions. Both starters are below average here, both posting ERAs over 4.00. For that reason, backing the Eagles to keep this game close looks to be worth a small play.

Kia Tigers vs SSG Landers – Under 8.5 runs (-116)

The SSG Landers had their game canceled on Thursday morning, so they will start Wilmer Font on Friday. He has an ERA of 1.94 on the season, while the Kia Tigers will start Kim Do-Hyeon, who has an ERA of 20.25. However, he has had just 1 start, so his ERA is inflated due to 1 bad start. For that reason, the under looks to be worth a play.
