KBO picks and predictions

Saturday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes ML (-162) vs KT Wiz

The Kiwoom Heroes got a win on Friday, beating the KT Wiz by a score of 7-5. They are now back to .500 on the season, but still sit in 7th place. The Heroes will look for their 2nd consecutive win as they will start Eric Jokisch on Saturday. He is 3-3 on the season and has an ERA of 2.66. In 7 starts this season, Jokisch has allowed 13 earned runs over 44.0 innings.

With the loss on Friday, the KT Wiz are now 16-19 on the season and have lost 2 games in a row. They are 8th place in the standings and will counter with So Hyeong-Jun. He is 4-1 on the season and has an ERA of 3.18. In 6 starts this season, Hyeong-Jun has allowed 14 earned runs over 39.2 innings.

Both starters have had success this season, but Jokisch still looks to have a slight edge. Because the KT Wiz are in worse form heading into Saturday, look for their struggles to continue and back the Heroes to win their 2nd game in a row.

NC Dinos vs SSG Landers ML (-205)

The NC Dinos got another upset win on Friday, beating the SSG Landers by a score of 6-2. This marks their 2nd win in a row, but the Dinos are still having a dreadful season. They are tied for 9th now with the Hanwha Eagles, who are having an equally bad season. The Dinos will look for their 3rd win in a row on Saturday, as they will start Wes Parsons. He is 1-2 on the season and has an ERA of 3.89. In 7 starts this season, Parsons has allowed 17 earned runs over 39.1 innings. In his lone start against the SSG Landers, Parsons allowed 2 runs over 6.0 innings.

Even with a loss on Friday, the SSG Landers are still 24-11-1. They have lost 3 games in a row though, but this looks to be a great bounce back spot. The SSG Landers will start Kim Kwang-Hyun. He has a record of 5-0 and his ERA is 0.47. In 6 starts this season, Kwang-Hyun has allowed 2 earned runs over 38.0 innings.

Parsons has been solid this season, but Kwang-Hyun has been elite. For that reason, back the SSG Landers to show why they are still at the top of the standings and back them to snap their 3-game losing streak.

Doosan Bears ML (-116) vs Samsung Lions

After Friday’s game was rained out, the Doosan Bears and Kiwoom Heroes will get their series underway on Saturday. The Bears managed to beat the Heroes on Thursday morning, winning by a score of 3-2. That win marks their 3rd in a row and they are now tied for 2nd in the standings. Friday looks to be another decent spot for them as they are scheduled to start Robert Stock. He is 4-0 on the season and has an ERA of 1.66. In 7 starts this season, Stock has allowed 8 earned runs over 43.1 innings.

The Samsung Lions also won on Thursday, beating the SSG Landers by a score of 4-2. The win was their 2nd in a row and now they find themselves sitting in 5th place. The Lions will counter with David Buchanan on Friday, who is 3-3 on the season with an ERA of 2.60. In 7 starts this season, Buchanan has allowed 13 earned runs over 45.0 innings.

Both starters have been great this season, but Stock still has the advantage on the mound. Buchanan has regressed a little as of late, allowing 3 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts, so backing the Bears will be the play.
