KBO picks and predictions

Sunday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes ML (-200) over Samsung Lions

The Kiwoom Heroes shut out the Samsung Lions on Saturday morning, beating them by a score of 6-0. They are now 56-32-1 on the season and are still in second place in the league standings. The Heroes did pick up 0.5 games though with the game between the SSG Landers and Doosan Bears being rained out. They will start Tyler Eppler on Sunday, who is 4-5 on the season and has an ERA of 4.24. In 17 appearances this season (16 starts), he has allowed 41 earned runs over 87.0 innings.

With the loss on Sunday, the Lions are now 35-52 on the season. They remain in 8th place in the league standings, but have lost 13 games in a row now. The Lions will counter with Heo Yun-Dong on Sunday morning, who is 3-2 on the season and has an ERA of 5.26. In 8 starts this season, he has allowed 22 earned runs over 37.2 innings.

Even though Eppler has not been the most consistent pitcher this season, Yun-Dong has been worse and the 13-game losing streak for the Lions is enough to keep fading them. For that reason, backing the Lions will be the play.

SSG Landers -1.5 (-130) over Doosan Bears

The SSG Landers and Doosan Bears had their game rained out on Saturday morning, so they will get back to it on Sunday morning to wrap up the series. Because of the rainout, the SSG Landers are still 58-26-3 on the season and remain in first place in the league standings. The SSG Landers will start Wilmer Font, who is 11-4 on the season and has an ERA of 1.96. In 18 starts this season, he has allowed 27 earned runs over 124.0 innings.

The Bears remain 36-47-2 on the season and they are currently in 7th place in the league standings. They will counter with Gwak Been, who is 3-7 on the season and has an ERA of 4.43. In 16 starts this season, he has allowed 40 earned runs over 81.1 innings.

The SSG Landers have a huge advantage on the mound, as Font has been dominant for majority of the season. He has struggled a bit against the Bears, but that should not make fading him an option for Sunday. Therefore, backing the SSG Landers will be the play.

NC Dinos ML (-150) over LG Twins

The NC Dinos lost on Saturday morning by a score of 11-5. They are now 33-50-2 on the season and still remain in a tie for 9th place. The Dinos will start Drew Rucinski on Sunday morning, who is 6-7 on the season and has an ERA of 2.86. In 18 starts this season, he has allowed 37 earned runs over 116.1 innings.

With the win on Saturday, the Twins are now 53-32-1 on the season. They remain in 3rd place in the league standings. The Twins will counter with Bae Jae-June, who has not recorded a decision and has an ERA of 4.26. In 5 appearances (2 starts) this season, he has allowed 6 earned runs over 12.2 innings.

The lack of starts for Jae-June is a bit of a concern for the Twins in this matchup. The Dinos are clearly having a dreadful season, but with Rucinski on the mound, they have a huge advantage in this game. For that reason, backing the Dinos will be the play.

Bonus KBO picks and predictions for Sunday, July 24

Kia Tigers ML (-135) over Lotte Giants

The Kia Tigers were able to win on Saturday morning, beating the Lotte Giants by a score of 9-3. Both starters in this game are average at best. but Lee Eui-Lee for the Tigers has been more consistent as of late. For that reason, backing the Tigers will be the play.

KT Wiz ML over Hanwha Eagles

The KT Wiz managed to beat the Hanwha Eagles on Saturday morning, winning by a score of 5-3. They have a huge advantage on the mound with So Hyeong-Jun. He has an ERA of 2.55, therefore backing the KT Wiz will be the play.
