KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

LG Twins vs Samsung Lions – Under 8.5 runs (-106)

The total looks to be the better play here as both starters have been posting solid numbers for majority of the season. Kim Yun-Sik has allowed 4 or more runs in just 3 starts this season. In his last 5 starts he has allowed 7 total runs (6 earned) over 26.2 innings. In 1 start against the Lions he allowed 2 earned runs over 4.1 innings.

On the other side, David Buchanan has allowed 4 or more runs in just 3 starts during the 2022 campaign. One of those starts was his most recent start and in the other 2 he was charged with an unearned run due to poor defense. In 1 start against the Twins he allowed 4 runs (3 earned) over 7.0 innings. Even though there was a ton of offense in Wednesday’s game, the starting pitchers appear to be in good enough form to suggest a lower-scoring game on Thursday. For that reason, backing the under will be the play.

SSG Landers -2.5 (+104) over Lotte Giants

The SSG Landers were blown out on Wednesday morning, losing to the Lotte Giants 12-5. They are now 51-26-3. The SSG Landers are still in 1st place in the league standings, leading by 1.5 games with the Kiwoom Heroes having also lost on Wednesday. They will start Wilmer Font on Thursday, who is 9-4 and has an ERA of 2.17. In 16 starts he has allowed 26 earned runs over 108.0 innings.

With the win on Wednesday, the Giants are now 34-41-3. They just snapped their losing streak on Wednesday morning and are now in 6th place in the league standings. They will counter with Kim Jin-Uk, who is 2-3 and has an ERA of 5.14. In 10 starts he has allowed 24 earned runs over 42.0 innings.

This looks to be a great bounce back spot for the SSG Landers with one of their best starters on the mound. For that reason, backing the SSG Landers looks to be worth a play.

Doosan Bears ML (-124) over Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes lost to the Doosan Bears 5-2 on Wednesday morning. They are now 51-29-1 after having a 9-game winning streak snapped. The Heroes still find themselves in 2nd place and 1.5 games behind the SSG Landers in the league standings. They will start Tyler Eppler, who is 4-4 and has an ERA of 4.29. In 15 starts Eppler has allowed 38 earned runs over 79.2 innings.

With the win on Wednesday, the Bears are now 33-42-2. They currently sit in 8th place in the league standings. The Bears will counter with Robert Stock on Thursday, who is 7-5 and has an ERA of 2.99. In 15 starts he has allowed 31 earned runs over 93.1 innings.

Stock is coming off a start where he lasted just 2.2 innings. He allowed 8 runs, but all of them were unearned due to some errors by his defense. Other than this start he has been the more consistent starter this year, therefore backing the Bears to win looks to be worth a play.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Thursday, July 7

KT Wiz vs Kia Tigers – Under 7.5 (+100)

The Kia Tigers lost their 8th straight game on Wednesday and will start Pannone Thomas on Thursday morning. He will be making his KBO debut, so he could have a small advantage due to the fact that that KT Wiz have never seen him pitch. The KT Wiz will start Ko Young-Pyo, who has an ERA of 3.10 and his ERA against the Tigers is 2.57. For that reason, backing the under looks to be worth a play.

Hanwha Eagles ML (+136) over NC Dinos

The Hanwha Eagles continue to lose at a rapid pace, but Thursday looks like it could be a decent spot. Starter Jang Min has an ERA of 4.22, while the NC Dinos’ starter, Lee Jae-Hak has an ERA of 5.12 and is 0-7. For that reason, backing the Eagles looks to be worth a small play.
