KBO picks and predictions

Tuesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Hanwha Eagles vs SSG Landers ML (-210)

The SSG Landers actually lost on Sunday in a game that ended 9-0 in favor of the Doosan Bears. They still are 19-6-1 on the year, but are now just 3.5 games ahead of the Lotte Giants. The SSG Landers will counter with Kim Kwang-Hyun, who has easily been one of the best pitchers in the league this season. He is 3-0 on the year and has an ERA of 0.36. In 4 starts this season, Kwang-Hyun has allowed just a single earned run over 25.0 innings. He consistently pitches at least 6.0 innings, which should only help the SSG Landers’ chances of a win.

Despite the Eagles having won 2 games in a row, there is no reason to believe they will make it 3 wins in a row on Tuesday. Kwang-Hyun has been far too strong to struggle against a poor Hanwha offense, therefore backing the SSG Landers will be the play.

Lotte Giants ML (-180) vs KT Wiz

The Lotte Giants start this week as the hottest team in the KBO at the moment. They have now won 4 games in a row with a win on Sunday and are 2nd place in the league standings. The Giants will have a great chance to do just that as they will start Charlie Barnes. He is 5-0 on the season and has an ERA of 0.65. In 6 starts this season, Barnes has allowed just 3 earned runs over 41.1 innings. He also has 1 start against this KT Wiz team where he picked up a win after 8.2 innings of shutout baseball. Barnes has been much too consistent to think he will get rocked. For that reason, backing the Giants will be the play.

NC Dinos vs Samsung Lions ML (-160)

The Samsung Lions are creeping closer to .500 on the season, now having won 3 games in a row with a win over the Kia Tigers on Sunday. They will counter with Albert Suarez on Tuesday, who is 1-3 on the season, but has an ERA of 2.89. In 5 starts this season, Suarez has allowed 9 earned runs over 28.0 innings. He has 1 start against the Dinos this season as well, allowing 1 earned run over 6.0 innings.

The Lions clearly have the advantage in starting pitching on Tuesday. Suarez has been a little unlucky in not getting a ton of run support, but facing a struggling Wes Parsons should allow them to score enough to win. For that reason, backing the Lions will be the play.
