KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Samsung Lions ML (-175) over Hanwha Eagles

The Hanwha Eagles opened their week with a win, beating the Samsung Lions 4-2 on Tuesday morning. They are now 27-61-1 on the season, but are still in last place by a wide margin. The Eagles will start Nam Ji-Min, who is 1-8 on the season and has an ERA of 5.77. In 14 appearances (12 starts) this season, he has allowed 37 earned runs over 57.2 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Lions are now 36-53. They had just snapped a 13-game losing streak this past Sunday but went right back to losing on Tuesday and remain in 9th place in the league standings. The Lions will counter will counter with Albert Suarez, who is 4-5 and has an ERA of 2.27. In 18 appearances (17 starts) he has allowed 25 earned runs over 99.0 innings.

Both of these teams are clearly among the worst in the KBO, but this is a spot where the Lions have the advantage due to their superior pitching. The Eagles rarely win as it is, but even less so when Ji-Min is on the mound, so backing the Lions will be the play.

Lotte Giants ML (+110) over Doosan Bears

The Doosan Bears beat the Lotte Giants 6-1 on Tuesday morning. They are now 37-48-2 on the season and are still in 7th place in the league standings. The Bears will start Lee Young-Ha, who is 6-6 and has an ERA of 4.32. In 18 appearances (17 starts) he has allowed 43 earned runs over 89.2 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Giants are now 38-48-3 this year. They have lost 4 games in a row and are still in 6th place in the league standings. The Giants will counter with Lee In-Bok, who is 8-7 and has an ERA of 3.66. In 18 appearances (16 starts) he has allowed 38 earned runs over 93.1 innings.

Neither starter has been lights out this season, but In-Bok has been more consistent. For that reason, backing the Giants will be the play.

KT Wiz ML (-125) over Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes beat the KT Wiz on Tuesday morning, winning by a score of 8-7. The Heroes are now 57-33-1 and remain in 2nd place in the league standings. They did pick up a game on the SSG Landers on Tuesday and are now 4.0 games back. The Heroes will start Jeong Chan-Heon, who is 5-4 on the season and has an ERA of 4.55. In 13 starts this season, he has 31 earned runs over 61.1 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the KT Wiz are now 46-40-2. They are in 4th place in the league standings by just 1 game. The KT Wiz will counter with Um Sang-Back, who is 6-2 and has an ERA of 3.53. In 21 appearances (11 starts) he has allowed 29 earned runs over 74.0 innings.

The Heroes are no doubt the more talented team, but they have a disadvantage on the mound. Sang-Back has been the more consistent pitcher this season, therefore backing the KT Wiz will be the play.

The Twins will counter with m Chan-Kyu, who has an ERA of 5.51. His ERA against the SSG Landers is 7.20, so backing the SSG Landers to win looks to be worth a play.

Kia Tigers ML (-155) over NC Dinos
