KBO picks and predictions
Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
NC Dinos ML (-152) over KT Wiz
The KT Wiz and NC Dinos had their game canceled on Tuesday morning due to rain. KT is still 49-41-2 on the season and remains in 4th place in the league standing. The Wiz will start Odrisamer Despaigne, who is 5-8 and has an ERA of 4.47. In 19 starts he has allowed 53 earned runs over 106.2 innings.
The NC Dinos also being part of the rain out are still 37-51-3. They still have a 2-game win streak going and remain in 8th place in the league standings. The Dinos will counter with Koo Chang-Moo, who is 5-2 and has an ERA of 1.40. In 10 starts he has allowed 9 earned runs over 57.2 innings.
Despaigne has been a bit too inconsistent to trust in this spot, even against a poor Dinos team. The Dinos have one of their best pitchers on the mound, therefore backing them to win will be the play on Wednesday morning.
SSG Landers ML (-122) over Kiwoom Heroes
A comeback win was the result for the SSG Landers on Tuesday morning, as they beat the Kiwoom Heroes 7-5. They are now 64-28-3 and extended their lead in the league standings to 8 games. The SSG Landers will start Kim Kwang-Hyun, who is 9-1 and has an ERA of 1.67. In 17 starts he has allowed 20 earned runs over 107.2 innings.
With the loss on Tuesday, the Heroes are now 57-37-2. They have now lost 4 games in a row and are also now 8 games back of 1st place. The Heroes will counter with An Woo-Jin, who is 10-5 in 2022 and has an ERA of 2.41. In 19 starts he has allowed 33 earned runs over 123.0 innings.
Both of these starters have certainly had solid years, but Woo-Jin has had a much worse track record against the SSG Landers compared to Kwang-Hyun against the Heroes. For that reason backing the SSG Landers will be the play on Wednesday morning.
Samsung Lions ML (-120) over Doosan Bears
The Samsung Lions and Doosan Bears had their game canceled on Tuesday morning due to rain. They last played on Sunday morning, when they tied 5-5 with the Lotte Giants. They are still 38-54-2 on the season and remain in 9th place in the league standings. The Lions will start Albert Suarez, who is 4-5 on the season and has an ERA of 2.42. In 19 appearances (18 starts) he has allowed 28 earned runs over 104.0 innings.
The Doosan Bears are 40-49-2 and remain in 6th place in the league standings. The Bears will counter with Choi Won-Joon, who is 6-7 on the season and has an ERA of 3.29. In 18 starts he has allowed 37 earned runs over 101.1 innings.
The Lions are clearly having a dreadful season, but Suarez gives them a great chance to win on Wednesday. He is the superior pitcher, therefore backing the Lions will be the play.

Bonus KBO picks and predictions for Wednesday, August 3
Kia Tigers ML (-205) over Hanwha Eagles
The Hanwha Eagles managed to pick up a win on Tuesday, beating the Kia Tigers 5-4. However, the Eagles will start Nam Ji-Min on Wednesday, who is 1-8 on the season and has an ERA of 6.28. The Tigers will start Thomas Pannone, who has an ERA of 4.20. Because he has been slight better, backing the Tigers will be the play on Wednesday.
Lotte Giants ML (-146) over LG Twins
The Lotte Giants picked up a win on Tuesday, beating the LG Twins by a score of 4-3. They look to have another advantage on Wednesday as they will be starting Charlie Barnes. He has an ERA of 3.10, but his ERA against the Twins is 1.42. For that reason backing the Giants will be the play.
