KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Hanwha Eagles +1.5 over LG Twins (-112)

The LG Twins beat the Hanwha Eagles on Tuesday morning by a score of 1-0. They are now 82-49-2 on the season and are still in 2nd place of the league standings. The Twins will start Im Chan-Kyu on Wednesday morning. He is 5-10 on the season, and has an ERA of 4.96. In 20 starts this season, Chan-Kyu has allowed 50 earned runs over 90.2 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Eagles are now 44-91-2 on the season and are still in last place in the league standings. The Eagles will counter with Kim Min-Woo, who is 6-10 on the season and has an ERA of 4.56. In 27 starts this season, he has allowed 77 earned runs over 152.0 innings.

Both starters have been less than stellar this season, but Min-Woo has had several good starts recently, while Chan-Kyu continues to be inconsistent. For that reason, backing the Eagles on the run line will be the play.

KT Wiz ML over Doosan Bears (-205)

The KT Wiz beat the Doosan Bears by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday morning. They are now 75-59-2 on the season and remain in 4th place in the league standings. The KT Wiz will start So Hyeong-Jun, who is 12-5 on the season and has an ERA of 3.22. In 25 starts this season, he has allowed 57 earned runs over 159.1 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Bears are now 56-76-2 on the season and are still in 9th place in the league standings. They will counter with Choi Seung-Yong, who is 3-6 on the season and has an ERA of 4.94. In 46 appearances (13 starts) this season, he has allowed 47 earned runs over 85.2 innings.

The Bears are almost certainly been eliminated from the playoffs, while the KT Wiz can still move up to as high as the 3rd seed. They also have the edge in starting pitching, so backing them on Wednesday will be the play.

NC Dinos ML over Samsung Lions (-184)

The NC Dinos beat the Kiwoom Heroes on Tuesday morning by a score of 6-5. They are now 61-70-3 on the season and are still in 6th place in the league standings. The Dinos will start Koo Chang-Mo, who is 9-5 on the season and has an ERA of 2.01. In 17 starts this season, he has allowed 22 earned runs over 98.2 innings.

The Samsung Lions did not play a game on Tuesday morning, so they are still 60-73-2 on the season and remain in 8th place in the league standings. The Lions will counter with Won Tae-In, who is 10-6 on the season and has an ERA of 3.56. In 25 starts this season, he has allowed 61 earned runs over 154.1 innings.

Tae-In has been serviceable this season, posting solid numbers at times throughout the season, but Chang-Mo has been far more consistent. For that reason, backing the Dinos to win will be the play.
