KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

KT Wiz vs SSG Landers – Under 7.5 runs (-128)

The total should be the stronger play here as both starters are having career-best seasons. So Hyeong-Jun has allowed 4 earned runs or more in just 3 of his 9 starts, while his other 6 starts saw him allow 2 or fewer earned runs. One of those 4-run starts was against the SSG Landers, but this was also his first start of the season. Over his last 4 starts, he has allowed a total of 4 earned runs over 28.0 innings, further proving he has improved throughout the season.

Kim Kwang-Hyun has allowed more than 2 earned runs in a start just once, but it happened recently, when he allowed 4 earned runs over 7.0 innings against the LG Twins. He still has 7 starts with 1 or 0 earned runs, so going up against a KT Wiz offense that ranks last in total runs should allow him to limit them offensively. For that reason, backing the under will be the play.

Samsung Lions vs Kiwoom Heroes ML (+100)

The Kiwoom Heroes won a tight game on Tuesday morning, beating the Samsung Lions by a score of 3-2. They have now won 7 games in a row and even gained ground on 1st place, now down just 4.0 games and 31-20 on the season. The Heroes will start Eric Jokisch, who is 6-3 on the season, and has an ERA of 2.67. In 10 starts this season, Jokisch has allowed 19 earned runs over 64.0 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Lions are now 24-26 on the season and are still in 6th place in the standings. They will counter with David Buchanan, who is 4-3 on the season, and has an ERA of 2.32. In 10 starts this season, he has allowed 17 earned runs over 66.0 innings.

Both starters have been among the best in the KBO this season, but because the Heroes are easily the hottest team in the league this season, backing Jokisch to outduel Buchanan will be the play.

Kia Tigers vs Doosan Bears ML (-128)

Starting their week with a win in what was a wild game, the Kia Tigers beat the Doosan Bears by a score of 13-10. They are now 28-22 on the season and are up to 3rd in the league standings. The Tigers will start Ronnie Williams, who is 2-1 on the season and has an ERA of 3.62. In 6 appearances (5 starts) this season, he has allowed 11 earned runs over 27.1 innings.

With a loss on Tuesday, the Bears are now 24-24-1 on the season and they are now 5th in the standings. They will counter with Robert Stock, who is 5-2 on the season and has an ERA of 2.31. In 10 starts this season, he has allowed 16 earned runs over 62.1 innings.

Both starters have been solid this season, but Stock has still been the more consistent of the two. The Bears win more times than not when Stock takes the mound, so with that being the case on Wednesday, backing the Bears will be the play here.
