KBO picks and predictions

Friday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

LG Twins ML (-110) vs Lotte Giants

After back-to-back ties, the LG Twins’ offense broke out on Thursday morning to beat the Lotte Giants by a score of 13-3. The Twins on Friday will start Bae Jae-June, who is having a solid season. He is 2-1 on the year and has a respectable ERA of 3.86.

With a loss on Thursday, the Giants chances to make the playoffs continue to plummet. They have lost 3 games in a row, sit in 8th place and trail the final playoff spot by 3.5 games. This is not an impossible number to catch, but they must start winning and will need help as well. The Giants will counter with Lee In-Bok. He has not been quite as consistent, posting a record of 2-0, but an ERA of 5.24.

The Twins’ offense found another level on Thursday and can keep it going against a team who is struggling for wins. Because they have the edge on the mound, backing a Twins win will be the play.

Kiwoom Heroes vs Samsung Lions – Over 9.5 runs (-134)

Given the inconsistent pitching from both starters, the total looks like it might be the better play here. Jeong Chan-Heon has not recorded a decision against the Lions, but has an ERA of 6.14 against them. This is over 2 starts, in which he allowed 7 runs (5 earned) in only 7.1 innings.

As for Choi Chae-Heong, he is 0-1 against the Heroes and has an ERA of 9.00 against them. This is only over 1 start, but he allowed 5 runs in 5.0 innings. The Heroes’ offense is averaging 8.3 runs over their last 3 games, and even though the Lions are averaging 3 runs per game over the same stretch, backing there to be runs scored against these shaky pitchers looks to be the best play.

Kia Tigers vs KT Wiz -1.5 (-104)

The KT Wiz got back on track after a couple losses in a row, beating the Doosan Bears by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. They are holding their 1st place standing at the moment, leading both the Samsung Lions and LG Twins by 2.5 games. Facing the Tigers should give them the opportunity to extend their lead or at least keep both teams chasing them from getting even closer. The Wiz will start Um Sang-Back, who is having a solid season. He is 4-1 on the year and has an ERA of 3.78.

The Kia Tigers will not be as fortunate on Friday, as they will start a pitcher who is struggling to say the least. That being Choi Yong-Jun, who is 0-1 on the year and has an ERA of 21.60. Note that he only has 3.1 innings of work this entire season, but has allowed 8 runs in that span.

The Wiz are heavy favorites for a reason and should be able to get to Yong-Jun. For that reason, backing them on the run line looks to be the right play.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay–which pays out at +553.
