KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Hanwha Eagles vs Kia Tigers – Under 8.5 runs (-110)

The total looks to be the much better play because of how each starter in this game has fared against his opponent. Despite a slightly high ERA, Kim Min-Woo has been better against the Tigers. He is 1-1 against them and has an ERA of 3.32. This is over the span of 3 starts, where he has allowed 8 runs (7 earned) in 19.0 innings.

Lee Eui-Lee on the other hand, has been lights out when facing the Eagles. He is 2-0 against them and has an ERA of 0.82. This is over the span of just 2 starts, but he has allowed just 1 run in 11.0 innings.

The Tigers’ pitching was great on Tuesday and that was against the KT Wiz. Against a much worse offense and with a pitcher that has dominated the Eagles, backing the under looks to be worth a play.

Doosan Bears ML (+110) vs SSG Landers

The Doosan Bears had Tuesday morning off, and come into this game having won 2 games in a row. At the moment, they are securely in the playoffs, sitting in 4th place, but are only 1.5 games clear of 5th place. The Bears will start Choi Won-Joon, who is 12-3 on the season with an ERA of 2.99. He has been one of the best pitchers for the Bears this season, which should give them a good chance to win.

The SSG Landers tied with the NC Dinos on Tuesday in a game that ended 7-7. With that tie, the Landers are now outside the playoff picture, sitting tied for 6th place, but trail 5th place by just 0.5 games. They will counter with Wilmer Font, who is 7-4 on the year and has an ERA of 3.63.

Having a day off could benefit the Bears, plus they have one of their better pitchers starting this game. So, while this game is probably more important for the SSG Landers, the edge in starting pitching for the Bears makes them worth a play as a small underdog.

Kiwoom Heroes vs LG Twins ML (-115)

The LG Twins continue to falter late in the season, losing to the Kiwoom Heroes on Tuesday by a score of 6-5. They could have taken advantage of another KT Wiz loss to try and move closer to the top of the league, but that loss prevented them from doing so. They now have lost 2 games in a row and need a win here if they want any chance of improving their standing. The Twins will start Lim Jun-Hyeung on Wednesday, who has not recorded a decision, but has an ERA of 2.40.

With the win on Tuesday, the Kiwoom Heroes are now in solo 5th place, which means that for the moment, they are in the playoff picture. They are only 0.5 games clear of 6th place though, so they cannot afford to drop many games down the stretch.  The Heroes will counter with Jeong Chan-Heon, who has not been as consistent as his counterpart. Chan-Heon is 8-5 on the season and has an ERA of 4.18.

There is some concern with Chan-Heon, especially when he has faced the Twins. For that reason, backing the Twins will be the play.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay–which pays out at +649.
