Best Good Friday MLB player props: Nationals keep whiffing

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller (23) pitches against the St. Louis Cardinals during the first inning at Busch Stadium.

We’ve made it to Friday! It’s been a long week of baseball and with only two games this afternoon, we have a long night of baseball ahead. There’s one player prop that I really like tonight, but before that, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchups.

Mitch Keller over 3.5 strikeouts (-155)

This line is slightly juiced, but it’s worth it when considering it’s against the Nationals. In 8 games this season, the Nationals have struck out 74 times which is the most in baseball. Washington struck out 5 times against J.T. Brubaker in yesterday’s game and the Nationals looked terrible at the plate whenever they got down in the count. Although Keller is not usually the strikeout-first type of pitcher, he has had success against the Nationals in the past. In 10 plate appearances against Keller, Washington has struck out 4 times.

Opposing starting pitchers have recorded at least 4 strikeouts against the Nationals in all 8 games this season. Washington has a tough top of the order with Juan Soto and Josh Bell, but once Keller gets passed those two, he should have smooth sailing. I expect to see a lot of sliders and curveballs from Keller on Friday, so back Keller to continue making the Nationals whiff.
