MLB best bet: NY Mets first 5 innings -1.5 over Colorado Rockies (-105)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -120.
My first best bet for Friday’s slate comes in the mountains, as the New York Mets are set to take on the woeful Rockies. Colorado is the worst team in baseball by some distance, and it’s easy to see why, as the Rockies’ pitching staff and bullpen is ranked dead last in ERA (5.55) while being very susceptible to allowing the long ball. The meat of the Mets’ offense should have a favorable matchup against Antonio Senzatela (7.25 xERA, .346 xBA, .592 xSLG), who is certainly one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball this season.
On the other side, Kodai Senga (1.60 ERA) will get the ball for New York, and the Japanese right-hander should be in a great position to succeed against the 30th-ranked Rockies offense. I’ll avoid any potential bullpen mishaps and target the first 5 innings on Friday.

MLB best bet: Arizona Diamondbacks team total over 4.5 (-110)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -120.
For my 2nd MLB best bet on Friday’s card, I’ll be targeting the Arizona Diamondbacks to exceed their team total against the Cincinnati Reds. Arizona just finished off a sweep of the Atlanta Braves, while Cincinnati is struggling a bit heading into this matchup.
However, instead of taking the Diamondbacks on the money line, I’m going to be fading Reds starter Nick Lodolo, whose expected metrics (4.09 xERA, .261 xBA, 22.5% whiff rate) suggest that he’s due for some significant regression compared to his current numbers. Lodolo and the Reds’ bullpen (21st in ERA) have their work cut out for them against an Arizona lineup that has racked up 38 runs and is batting .266 over the past 6 contests. Ultimately, I’ll back the Diamondbacks to tally at least 5 runs at the hitter-friendly Great American Park.
