The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along today, and Saturday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 63-44 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a 125-95-8 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top predictions on Saturday, August 16.

MLB best bet: Seattle Mariners ML over New York Mets (-120)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -135.
Our first MLB best bet today takes us to the Big Apple, where the struggling Mets are set to host the surging Mariners in the second of this 3-game set. New York has been an absolute mess over the last 6 weeks, as the Mets are just 19-34 over their past 53 games. On the other side, Seattle can’t seem to lose games, and it rallied again in the late innings to knock off New York in Friday’s series opener. This time around, I’m expecting the Mariners to get off to a much better start against Mets starter Nolan McLean, a rookie prospect making his debut. While the reports indicate that McLean will be a quality starter down the road, it’s very tough to face a red-hot lineup in your MLB debut. As for Seattle, the Mariners will send Bryan Woo to the mound; he has posted 8 quality starts over his last 10 outings. Look for the visitors to keep rolling on Saturday.
MLB best bet: Toronto Blue Jays ML over Texas Rangers (-140)
Odds available at BetRivers Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -155.
For my second MLB best bet for today, we’ll focus on this American League matchup between the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays. The red-hot Blue Jays took the series opener thanks to a 4-run surge in the bottom of the 8th inning, and I’m expecting another strong effort from the Toronto bats in this game, especially since they’ll be going up against Patrick Corbin, whose expected metrics suggest that regression is coming for the lefty. It certainly helps matters that Toronto is a top 10 offense against left-handed pitching, while the Rangers are near the bottom in that same category. It just so happens that Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer (2.82 ERA) is in the midst of a career year, and I don’t expect a struggling Texas side to break his momentum on Saturday.
