The week in Major League Baseball continues with a full 15-game slate on Saturday. It is headlined by a couple of regionally televised showdowns on FOX at 7:15 pm ET, with the Mets visiting the Diamondbacks and the Padres hosting the Cardinals. Other matchups include Astros vs Reds, Yankees vs Brewers and Braves vs Dodgers.
Here are my best bets, and also make sure to check out our MLB picks for predictions throughout the 2026 season.
Tampa Bay Rays vs Boston Red Sox Under 8 (-115)
This is a nice pitching matchup in the American League East between Nick Martinez of Tampa Bay and Peyton Tolle of Boston. Martinez is 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. He has not allowed more than 2 runs in any start this entire season. The right-hander has also walked just 1 batter in each of his past 3 appearances, so he isn’t giving anything easy to opponents. Tolle comes in with a sparkling 2.04 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in addition to a 23-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The lefty most recently faced Detroit on Monday, when he fired 7.0 innings of shutout baseball while yielding only 1 hit. Boston has posted shutouts in 2 of its last 3 games and is coming off a 2-0 victory on Friday. Another low-scoring affair should be in the cards.
Houston Astros vs Cincinnati Reds Under 8.5 (-104)
Although it’s never a complete slam dunk to bet an Under when the Astros are involved given their prolific offense, this matchup sets up well to be low scoring. Part of that simply has to do with the fact that Houston’s lineup has cooled off a bit of late. It has produced 3 runs or fewer in 4 of the last 5 outings. Granted, the visitors erupted for 10 runs in Friday’s series opener. Hopefully, though, they got all – or most – of their scoring out of the way before facing Cincinnati’s Chase Burns this afternoon. Burns is 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA and 1.02 WHIP to go along with 46 strikeouts in 41.0 innings of work. The Astros are countering with Spencer Arrighetti, who is 4-0 with a 1.96 ERA and has not surrendered more than 2 runs in any appearance during this 2026 campaign.
Chicago Cubs ML over Texas Rangers (-135)
Until the Cubs actually lose a game, it’s hard to justify fading them. They have won 10 in a row and boast the best record in baseball at 27-12. Things should continue to get even better with Edward Cabrera on the mound on Sunday. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 3.27 ERA and Chicago has won 6 of his 7 starts this season. Cabrera has not given up more than 3 earned runs on any occasion in 2026. The Rangers, on the other hand, have dropped 5 of their last 6 contests after getting blown out 7-1 in the series opener on Friday. Can Jack Leiter stop the bleeding? Probably not. Leiter comes in at 1-3, and his ERA ballooned to 5.45 after allowing 5 earned runs during a 7-1 loss at Detroit last Sunday. Count on the Cubs remaining red hot.
