MLB Wednesday same game parlay (+947 odds): Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros

Alex Bregman Astros

8:10pm ET isn’t really very late but tonight it is when you consider there are only three games that start after the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. ESPN will be beaming this into our houses so this has what I look for in a same game parlay. It’s on ESPN and it’s a “late” game. Now that doesn’t make it an automatic bet, but it does pique my interest enough to look for angles. I think I found a couple that fit like a glove in a same game parlay.

Let’s take a look at the best options for this showdown and don’t forget to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total. You can also follow me on Twitter for any other bets I might throw out throughout the day.

Red Sox vs. Astros under 8.5 (-104)

This feels crazy since all but three of Nick Pivetta’s starts have gone over this number this season. I think the Astros will be able to hit him but I am not sure the Red Sox will be able to hold up their end of the deal. This one is all about Framber Valdez. This kid was filthy at the end of last season and didn’t look bad in his first start of this season. The Astros lost that game but it wasn’t on him. He gave up only two hits in four innings and if he gets to the fifth or sixth today, the Astros bullpen should be able to handle it from there. I like the under here.

Houston Astros -2.5 (+210)

While this game won’t see nine runs, I still think the Astros can win it by at least three. At the end of the day, Pivetta gives up runs. He is being propped up by a very good offense which is why pitcher’s win/loss records mean nothing. he is likely to give up four or five runs today with no questions asked. Taking the under and then taking a team to win by at least three gives an odds boost we can all be proud of. Let’s not act like this one can’t end 6-1, 5-0, 7-1 or even 6-2. I like the Astros tonight.

Alex Bregman to record a hit (-270)

I didn’t have to add this because the odds were big enough already but it feels like a gimme. And who are we kidding here, do we really want to bet a +688 parlay? Not on my watch. Batter vs. pitcher means nothing but Bregman has faced Pivetta only once and he got a hit. Again, that means nothing but it did happen. Bregman has a hit in both games of this series and in three of his last four games. If Houston does win this game by at least three runs, Bregman is very likely to have gotten a hit. That’s just logic.
