Atlanta Hawks ML (+225)

After losing both meetings to the Celtics this season, the Hawks enter this game as 7-point underdogs. Each team is expected to play with weakened lineups as their stars take a break on the final day of the regular season. This game is much more important to the Hawks’ reserves than those of the Celtics. With their play-in tournament game against Miami happening on Tuesday night, it will be important to build up some momentum for the role players. Another stat that gives the Hawks a slight edge is their bench production. They average 34.7 points per game compared to 32.4 for the Celtics. Most of Boston’s points off the pine come from Malcolm Brogdon, so if head coach Joe Mazzulla decides to rest him too they might find themselves in a difficult situation. Atlanta prefers to run in road games this season, which is evident from their 23-16-1 O/U record in those games. I feel like it’s not unrealistic at all to back the Hawks to pull off the upset.

De’Andre Hunter over 1.5 made threes (+152)

With most of their heavy hitters resting, the Hawks will have to turn to someone else to carry them offensively and De’Andre Hunter is the perfect candidate. He’s averaging 12.3 points per game in his last 10 games, scoring in double digits all but once during that stretch. His 3-point percentage has taken a bit of a hit lately due to a 1-for-8 night against Memphis. He’s at 27.5% efficiency during that stretch, but on the road for the season he’s still at a very respectable 37.6% from three. The lower percentage might not necessarily be a bad thing as the oddsmakers are now giving us +152 odds for him to drain 2 threes, something he’s done 4 times in those 10 games. Another stat working in our favor is his production in games against the Celtics. He has made at least 2 threes in both meetings this season and in 4 of the last 5 he has played against the Cs. Jaylen Brown not playing for Boston also helps us a bit as it means one less quality defender Hunter that has to worry about. All in all, I’m expecting him to get at least 16-18 shots, and hopefully that is enough to make a pair of threes.
