Dallas Mavericks ML (+176)
It’s about time we saw the Mavs wake up from their deep sleep. They just beat the Indiana Pacers on the road fairly easily, with Luka Doncic playing after having his 16th technical foul of the season rescinded. That win ended a 4-game slide and now they have an opportunity to send out a statement by taking down one of the best teams in the East. Dallas has a really good record in head-to-head meetings against the Sixers, winning 13 of the last 20 while covering the spread in 7 of the last 10. They also won the first meeting of the season in early March 133-126 at home, with Doncic and Kyrie Irving scoring 42 and 40 points respectively.
Philadelphia is going through a lot at the moment. The Sixers are on a 3-game losing streak with their best player Joel Embiid missing the last game at Denver. James Harden has also been out a for a while and it’s still unclear if the team will allow him to play as he recovers from an Achilles injury. Dallas enters the game as a 5.5-point underdog, so we’re getting really solid odds for an outright win on the road team. There’s a lot more pressure on the Mavs to win as Philly is pretty much set to be #3 in the East. I’m backing the road team.

Kyrie Irving to score 30+ points (+240)
Kyrie Irving dropped 40 on the Sixers in the teams’ last meeting less than 30 days ago. His scoring has been down a bit over the last 3 games, but despite that he’s still averaging 26.4 points over his last 10 outings while shooting almost 50% from the field and better than 37% from three. I think it would be better for our bet if James Harden plays. He and Kyrie haven’t been on the best of terms since all the drama took place in Brooklyn, so going up against the Beard would definitely be a motivating factor for Irving. But even if Harden doesn’t play, I’m still expecting big things from the experienced point guard.
In his last 8 games against Philly, dating back to when he played in a Celtics uniform, he has scored at least 30 points 5 times while averaging 30.3 per game. Philadelphia is in the bottom 10 of the NBA in opponent 3-point percentage over their last 3 games, allowing 38.6% of shots made. With no Embiid in the middle, Denver just put up 58 points on them inside the paint. If the big fella is unable to suit up tonight then Kyrie should have an open lane to the basket. I think it’s time we got another signature Irving game.
