New York Knicks ML (+194) over Philadelphia 76ers

Is it time to panic for the 76ers? They’ve lost 2 straight games and have failed to reach the 100-point mark in each of them. In their most recent loss to the Celtics, Philadelphia had only 3 players reach double figures. Joel Embiid was one of those players, as he scored 28 points, but considering the Celtics were sitting both Robert Williams and Al Horford, it was a disappointing performance. He is also questionable for Friday’s game with a foot injury. As for the Knicks, they stocked up at the trade deadline by acquiring Josh Hart, which should add an excellent defensive boost to their rotation.

New York has won 3 of their last 4 games, including being the underdog in 2 of those wins. I was very surprised to see New York as 5.5-point underdogs for this contest, and while taking the points with the Knicks would be a safer bet, I’m backing their money line since I believe they’ll win outright.

Boston Celtics -10 (-108) over Charlotte Hornets

Prepare for a new-look Hornets team on Friday night. Charlotte dealt Mason Plumlee and Jalen McDaniels yesterday, which downsized their roster dramatically. They got Reggie Jackson in return for Plumlee, but the last thing the Hornets need is another small guard. But even with Plumlee and McDaniels in the last four games, Charlotte went 0-4, which featured several bad losses to the Bulls, Pistons, Magic and Wizards. A big reason for that is their atrocious offense, as they rank 28th in offensive rating and 30th in eFG% in the last 5 games. They take on a Celtics team that has won 4 of their last 5 games and just beat the 76ers without 4 starters in the second half.

While Jaylen Brown will remain out with a facial contusion, Robert Williams and Al Horford are expected back in the lineup on Friday. The Celtics beat the Hornets by 12 points a few weeks ago in Charlotte, and Brown did not play, which allowed Jayson Tatum to go off for 51 points. Now at home, Boston should once again secure the double-digit win.

Dallas Mavericks ML (+112) over Sacramento Kings

Fading the Kings at home is not for the faint of heart, as Sacramento has been elite on their home court. However, this could be the first time that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving take the floor together. Doncic missed Irving’s Mavericks debut because of an injury but is questionable for Friday’s matchup. If he can suit up, backing Dallas is well worth the risk as underdogs, especially since the Kings’ defense has been even worse than usual in the last few weeks.

Sacramento allowed a total of 248 points to Houston in back-to-back games, which means they have surrendered an average of 128 points per game in their last 3 games. With the duo of Doncic and Irving, they could make the Kings pay for their lackluster defensive efforts. At plus-money odds, the Mavericks are worth a shot on the money line.
