NBA Friday parlay at mega (+956) odds today 12/16: Sixers reign supreme

Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden (1) dribbles the ball against the Sacramento Kings during the fourth quarter at Wells Fargo Center.

It’s a fantastic Friday in the NBA and I have a mega parlay to celebrate. I cashed Wednesday’s NBA mega parlay at +1201 odds, but came up short on Thursday’s. Now, I’m back with a vengeance to finish the work week with a win. I’ve found 3 edges that I have parlayed together to make up today’s NBA mega parlay, so without further ago, let’s get into it!

76ers -7.5 (-110)

Celtics -13 (-110)

Nuggets winning margin 1-10 (+190)

Parlay odds: +956

Philadelphia 76ers -7.5 (-110) over Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are about to look a lot different over the next few games. Steph Curry, who suffered a shoulder injury on Wednesday, will join Andrew Wiggins on the injured list for the indefinite future. Golden State has started its road trip with back-to-back losses, which is not surprising considering the Warriors have been abysmal on the road. They are 12-2 at home but 2-13 on the road and will have to face a Philadelphia offense that has been lighting up the scoreboard recently. The 76ers have scored at least 123 points in their last 4 games and rank 6th in offensive rating in that 4-game span.

Philly has also been solid on the defensive side as they rank 9th in defensive rating in that same 4-game span. Golden State is vulnerable to points in the paint which opens the door for a big game from Joel Embiid and the 76ers. Without Curry and Wiggins, Golden State doesn’t stand a chance on the road against the Sixers.

Boston Celtics -13 (-110) over Orlando Magic

The 4 words all Celtics fans have been waiting for: Robert Williams is back. Williams is the heart and soul of the Boston defense, as he solidified himself as one of the best rim protectors in the NBA last season. The Celtics have had an incredible start to the season as their offense is off to a historic pace, but it’s been their shaky defense that has held them back from complete dominance. Williams was the key to Boston’s #1 defensive rating last year and is coming back at an important time as the Magic routinely roll out a starting 5 that has only 1 player below 6’10”.

The Celtics return home after a grueling 6-game road trip, and no team has enjoyed playing at home more than Boston. They rank 1st in points per game at home (125.8) and 2nd in average scoring margin at home (+11.2), so this is a perfect game for the Celtics to welcome back Williams with a blowout win over a young Magic team.

Denver Nuggets win margin 1-10 (+190) over Los Angeles Lakers

It’s a star-studded matchup in Los Angeles on Friday night as Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets take on LeBron James and the Lakers. I expect the Nuggets to jump out to an early lead before the Lakers fight back and make it close. Denver is one of the best first-quarter teams in the association, but they have the tendency to let up in the second half, and that opens the door for a comeback from the Lakers.

Ultimately, I think this game will be won in the paint. Denver ranks 6th in points in the paint per game and relies on close shots and offensive rebounds to score. They don’t attempt a lot of 3-pointers, and that strategy should work against the Lakers, who allow the 7th most points in the paint per game. Denver has the talent and height to beat the Lakers in the post en route to a win between 1-10 points.
