Golden State Warriors -2 (-108)

At 7-25 SU the Warriors are arguably the worst road team in the league, but tonight’s game is a solid opportunity for them to finally beat someone away from home. They’re 2-0 in the season series against the Grizzlies, and finally have their trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all ready to play. The last 2 games were rough and they fell 137-128 to the OKC Thunder despite getting 40 from Curry. When it comes to tonight’s opponent, however, they’re 5-1 SU in the last 6 meetings. Memphis is going through a lot right now. Ja Morant will miss another 4 games and stay away from the team for the time being, they’ve lost their last 3 games by an average of 10.3 points. In 2 of those games they struggled to score and against the Lakers they scored only 9 threes, which is alarming. The Grizz also don’t like playing in the underdog role and are just 1-12 SU in 13 such games this season. The Warriors have had their struggles on the road, but I think it’s time for them to finally beat someone. I’ll back Steph and co. to cover as road favorites.

Klay Thompson to score 25+ points (+125)

The emergence as Klay Thompson has been reassuring for Warriors fans, and with him playing at this level their team can put up a solid title defense come playoff time. Klay is averaging 25.5 points per game in his last 10 games, tearing apart opposing defenses, especially from 3-point land. He’s averaging 4.9 threes per game during this stretch while shooting an impressive 45% from downtown. Although Steph is back from injury and that might impact Klay’s usage rate in a negative way, I still see him having a big game. In his last 2 games against the Grizzlies he scored 24 points on not-so-good efficiency. This time around he looks way more like the Klay of old, and if the Warriors plan on getting a road win he will have to put up at least 25 points here.

Thursday’s NBA mega parlay has +648 odds

Desmond Bane over 23.5 points (-113)

Jaren Jackson Jr. carried the bulk of the offense in the last Grizzlies game, as they continue life without Morant. I’m not sure what kind of impact he will have offensively in tonight’s game, as it should be a completely different style of play to the previous one. The tempo will be much faster, which in theory should benefit the backcourt players a bit more. In comes Desmond Bane, who has had 20 or more points twice in his last 3 games against the Warriors. Without Morant’s 27.1 points and 20.6 shot attempts per game, Bane automatically becomes the leader on that end of the floor. He had 30 points in 2 of his last 4 games, after a sub-par performance against the Lakers when he had just 7, it’s time for him to make amends. He should have the physicality advantage over Steph, so don’t be surprised if the Grizzlies run a few players for him down low as he bullies his way to the basket. When Morant doesn’t play, Bane averages 22.1 points per game and he has cleared this line in 4 of those games. Look for him to make it 5 tonight.
