New York Knicks 1-10 win margin (+170)

It’s not often you see a team win the rebounding battle by 9 boards and still lose a game in the postseason, but that’s exactly what happened to the Knicks over the weekend. Game 1 saw New York miss 27 of 34 three-point attempts in what was arguably their worst offensive performance of the postseason. Adjustments are to be expected for Game 2 as going down 2-0 with the next 2 games taking place in Miami would be devastating for the Knicks. We still don’t know if Jimmy Butler will recover in time to play, and without him the Heat were just 9-9 during the regular season and averaged 106.8 points per game. That’s almost 4 fewer points than they averaged for the regular season as the lowest-scoring team in the NBA. After being 4-point favorites in Game 1, the spread is now at 6.5 points on New York to cover. They’ve gone 12-4 SU in their last 16 home games, so I think they should have enough to level things. All 4 regular-season meetings and Game 1 of this series were decided within 10 points, so I’m expecting another close outcome and a Knicks victory.

Kyle Lowry to record 4+ assists (-210)

With head coach Erik Spoelstra starting Gabe Vincent at point guard, the Heat basically have only Kyle Lowry as their traditional PG who brings up the basketball. Butler also helps in that department, but with an injured ankle he could be severely limited, which should open up more playing time for the experienced Lowry. He cleared this line with ease in Game 1, dishing out 6 assists in 30 minutes of play. He’s now done so in 2 of his last 3 outings, and his minutes are going up as we move further into the postseason which should reflect on his production as well. Aside from the experience, the 37-year-old also has the physical edge over the Knicks second unit against whom he plays most of the time as a bench player. In a scenario where you’re up 1-0 and playing on the road in the postseason, players such as Lowry can often be the difference between winning and losing. I’m sure the Heat are counting on him, especially if Butler is unable to play.

Gabe Vincent over 2.5 made threes (-113)

Three-point shooting made all the difference on Sunday as the Heat stole Game 1 in a 7-point victory. The Heat were able to knock down 13 of 39 threes, with Gabe Vincent doing most of the heavy lifting with 5 makes, tying his playoff high in attempts with 12. He has really elevated his game in the postseason, averaging 14.2 points per game, which is up from 9.4 per game during the regular season. His efficiency has also gone up across the board and with the possibility of Butler not being able to play in Game 2, he could get him additional shot attempts which is always welcome for a shooter like him. He’s cleared this line in 4 of 6 postseason games while knocking down 42.2% attempts. What Vincent is doing is really impressive considering the Knicks ranked in the top 10 in opponent 3-point percentage, allowing just 35.5% of makes during the regular season. In 4 regular-season games against the Knicks he averaged 45% of makes from deep, so I see no reason why his hot streak can’t continue in Game 2.
