Philadelphia 76ers ML (+152)

In what could be an Eastern Conference Finals preview, the best game on Wednesday’s slate is a rivalry matchup between 2 of the best teams in basketball. The Sixers are 8-2 over their last 10 games, including impressive wins over the Nuggets, Clippers, Nets and Kings. Philadelphia is one of the best teams on both ends of the court, ranking inside the top 6 in offensive and defensive rating this season. And with Joel Embiid playing like an MVP frontrunner, it’s hard not to favor Philadelphia in most of its games. The Celtics are equally proficient on both offense and defense, especially since getting Robert Williams back from injury. However, what gives the Sixers an edge in this matchup compared to previous seasons is how lethal the Embiid and James Harden combo has been. The pairing combined for 61 points, 23 rebounds and 12 assists in the first meeting between these teams, and I expect we see similar stat lines for both players in this massive Eastern Conference tilt. Look for Philadelphia to make a statement on Wednesday.

Joel Embiid to Score 35+ Points (+185)

If finishing as runner-up 2 season in a row in the MVP race wasn’t enough, now Embiid has to deal with getting relegated to the bench in the All-Star Game. For a player of his caliber that must feel humiliating, but it also adds fuel to the fire inside of him as he tries to prove his worth to all of the people doubting him. Winning on the road in Boston would definitely boost his case to finally win the elusive award. He has been in good rhythm over the last 9 games averaging 33.7 points per game. We are getting really good odds for him to score 35 here; he has done it 5 times in his last 10 meetings with the Celtics, including twice in his last 4 visits to TD Garden. He did have only 26 in the first meeting of the season, but if the Sixers manage to keep control over the pace of the game then look for them to force Embiid on the inside — where nobody on the Celtics roster can stop him.

Robert Williams to record 8+ rebounds (-195)

And to close things out I have Robert Williams having a really solid night on the boards. Getting 8 rebounds shouldn’t be too hard for him; he has done it 6 times in his last 9 games — plus against the Pistons he just finished with 15. The good form should translate onto tonight’s game, as well. Philadelphia just allowed 57 rebounds in the loss at Madison Square Garden to a Knicks team that was without its starting center. Williams is averaging 8.3 rebounds per game at home this season and he has gone over 8 rebounds in 2 of his last 3 games vs Philly, recording 14 the last time he played them. Embiid might get the better of him scoring-wise, but Timelord is more than capable holding his own when it comes to cleaning the glass.
