The first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs is heating up in a big way, and tonight sees a huge clash in Detroit as the Pistons look to avoid elimination as a #1 seed when they host the Magic. Elsewhere, the Lakers can punch their ticket to the Western Conference semifinals with victory against the Rockets today, while the Cavaliers and Raptors are locked up at 2-2. With plenty more drama guaranteed tonight, I’ve assessed each matchup and have picked out my best NBA player prop bets for Wednesday, April 29. Let’s break it down, while you can also get our expert NBA picks for every matchup throughout the entire postseason.
Best NBA player prop bet: Paolo Banchero (ORL) over 4.5 first-quarter points in Magic vs Pistons (-135)
Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.
This feels like great value. Paolo Banchero has hit this line in 3 of 4 games in this series and in 9 of his last 10 playoff games in general. Despite Orlando winning Game 4, we saw Banchero struggle, shooting 4-18 from the floor. Despite that, he hit this mark and is a massive free-throw recipient. He should be a lock for 9+ first-quarter minutes here in a game with a double-digit spread. Given the blowout potential, I much prefer the first quarter look.
The Pistons have failed to make the adjustments on Paolo, and he continues to find himself switched on against Duncan Robinson, which should be barbecue chicken. 5 early points for the star player of the team in a hostile environment feels like a steal. I expect a rowdy Detroit crowd and Orlando to lean on their #1 pick here, especially early. Let’s roll!
