The 2023 NBA calendar has gotten off to an exciting start, and we should have more thrilling action on Thursday. The highlight is in Phoenix, where the Suns will host the Mavericks. We’ll be focusing on that game in this mega parlay, as well as another 2 matchups that should feature plenty of excitement. New York Knicks +8.5 (-110) over Boston Celtics
Boston is the best team in basketball by most metrics, and it’s no surprise given their play this season. The Celtics are 1st in NET rating and boast a top-5 unit on both offense and defense. This is a well-oiled machine that is the favorite to get back to the NBA Finals for a reason.
With Boston being an excellent home team and coming off a loss, conventional wisdom would suggest that you should lay the points with the Celtics. However, recent history in this Knicks-Celtics rivalry begs to differ, with 5 of the last 7 games being decided by 7 points or less. Furthermore, the Knicks have strangely been much better on the road this season, posting a 14-10 record away from the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden. With Marcus Smart ruled out, expect Jalen Brunson to have another big night in what should be a tight game.

Cleveland Cavaliers -7 (-110) over Houston Rockets
Speaking of the Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers recently suffered a defeat at the hands of New York on Tuesday as road favorites. The loss was the 6th in the last 10 games for Cleveland, as the Cavaliers have dropped to the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference. With the Heat and Knicks nipping at their heels, this Cavs team is in desperate need of a get-right spot. Fortunately, Thursday should present them with a perfect chance to bounce back.
Despite a recent win over the Timberwolves, this Rockets team has still dropped 13 of their last 14 games. Home or away, Houston is abysmal on both sides of the ball, with the Rockets sitting at 29th in both offensive and defensive rating this season. Seeing as 11 of Houston’s last 13 losses have come by at least 8 points, I think there’s clear value on Cleveland to win this game going away. The Cavaliers are the much better team and should start another Rockets losing streak on Thursday.
Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns Over 223 (-105)
To close out our mega parlay, we’re going with the over in this Mavericks vs Suns matchup. The Suns are playing some of their best basketball in recent games, as Phoenix is 4-0 on its current homestand. However, 2 of those wins came against non-playoff teams, and the victory over the Nets came against a Brooklyn team that was without Kevin Durant. Therefore, I think we’re getting a bit of a decreased number on this total.
In the last meeting between these teams, there were a combined 241 points scored, as the Mavericks dominated from the opening tip. Phoenix’s defense has yet to figure out how to slow down Luka Doncic and I don’t think Thursday’s game will be when the Suns turn the tide in this ongoing rivalry. With the spread priced as a pick ’em, overtime is certainly a possibility as well.
