I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. After a jam-packed 20-game NHL weekend on top of March Madness, you may be in need of a quieter night. Well, you’ll be able to take a breather for a bit, but we still have 5 games on the ice. That’s plenty of action to give your bankroll a big boost for the week to come. There’s also never been a more pivotal time in the NHL with teams fighting for the playoff lives. We’re not wasting any time for our NHL mega parlay as we’re targeting both of the early games, so let’s get into it.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 (+145) over Ottawa Senators

Technically speaking, this is a matchup of two teams in contention for an Eastern Conference wild-card spot. However, the Pens look like they’re almost certain to snag one, while the Sens need a miracle. If you watched Pittsburgh over the weekend, that may be difficult to believe. Despite that, it’s important to keep in mind that they were facing the New York Rangers with the reigning Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin between the pipes.

Now they’ll get to face an Ottawa squad that hasn’t been defending well. They’ve allowed at least 5 goals in 7 straight games now. Worse yet, that stretch began with an embarrassing 5-0 loss to a bad Chicago Blackhawks team. There was also a 5-2 defeat to a struggling Vancouver Canucks team and a 5-1 blowout loss to the Calgary Flames. Therefore, the Pens should repeat their success. Pittsburgh took down the Sens 4-1 the last time these teams met. Back on home ice after being in the Big Apple, I expect the Pens to bounce back.

Florida Panthers -1.5 (+145) over Detroit Red Wings

The other early game of the evening is another divisional rivalry. Well, it’s difficult to call it a rivalry. The Panthers have defeated the Red Wings in 8 straight meetings and 9 of the last 10. Now with Detroit’s playoff chances all but gone, they should continue that success. That’s especially true since the Panthers are still fighting for a playoff spot themselves.

The Wings looked like they were going to have a better season with Vile Husso in net. However, he’s become one of the NHL’s worst goaltenders in terms of goals allowed above expected. Husso was even pulled in their most recent game, which was a 5-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. That game was in Detroit, so home ice has done them no favors. The Panthers should be riding high after their last win as they became the first team this season to defeat the New Jersey Devils after trailing by at least 2 goals (they were an incredible 31-0-1). When these teams first met this season, Florida left with a convincing 5-1 win. We anticipate another smooth victory.

Los Angeles Kings ML (-115) over Calgary Flames

Now we’re heading to the nightcap to round out our NHL mega parlay. The Kings and Flames generally have hard-fought battles, so this one will likely be a sweat. Each of their first 2 games this season have been decided by a single goal. However, the home team has won each one, and this game will be in LA. These Pacific Division teams entered the year with expectations of battling it out at the top.

It’s safe to say the Flames have not been as hot as expected. On the flip side, the Kings have a great chance to be crowned the Pacific champs this season. Admittedly, they’re coming off a game which they shouldn’t have lost — a shootout defeat to the Canucks. Despite that, they’re still 7-1-2 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, Calgary is a very mediocre 4-3-3 in its last 10 contests. That includes a loss to a bad Arizona Coyotes team. With these teams facing off again in just a week’s time, we’ll back the home team to continue the trend.
