Monday begins our week with a 6-game slate on the ice, and most of the action is out west. While that means later games, that doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of the matchups. The first one of the night in Buffalo may end up being one of the only games of the season listed with a total of 7.5 goals. We also have more than half the Pacific Division in action, and 2 of those teams are included in tonight’s NHL mega parlay. They’re the last 2 games of the night, but we’ve also targeted the first game of the night, so let’s get into it.

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+160) over Buffalo Sabres

This matchup should have plenty of goals. The Oilers are the highest-scoring team in the league, and the Sabres aren’t far behind in 3rd. Buffalo put that on display with a 5-3 upset over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, but we’re expecting Connor McDavid and the Oilers to bring them back down to earth. Edmonton has scored 11 goals over the last 2 games, which should exploit the biggest difference between these teams.

While they both find the net often, the Sabres have far worse goaltending. They’ve allowed the most goals per game since the start of February, which is obviously not good news when welcoming in the Oilers. Despite Edmonton’s high-powered attack, they still need every win they can get due to the competition in the Pacific Division. We’ll be outlining one of the teams ahead of them further down, but a win tonight can at least get them back ahead of the Seattle Kraken. With Buffalo’s sub-par defense, we expect them to do just that.

Vancouver Canucks ML (-110) over Nashville Predators

One of the teams below the Oilers in their division is the Canucks. They have not had the season they were hoping for entering the year, and they have clearly accepted that. Vancouver traded former captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders well before the deadline. However, the Preds did more than just that. For a team that still had potential at a postseason run, it was surprising to see just how big a seller they became last week. Nashville traded away Mikael Granlund, Mattias Ekholm, Tanner Jeannot and Nino Niederreiter.

Those were all significant pieces. Couple that with the fact that superstar Filip Forsberg remains on the injured reserve, and you get a team that is a shell of what it was just a month ago. The Canucks aren’t great, but they just took down the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 and Central Division leaders the Dallas Stars 2 games prior to that. Sandwiched between that was a near-upset over the Minnesota Wild, and holding the Boston Bruins to just 3 goals was respectable as well. Vancouver may not be postseason-bound, but the Canucks could steal this win at home.

Los Angeles Kings -1.5 (+150) over Washington Capitals

Our final play is yet another Pacific Division team getting a win. Admittedly, the Kings have been a bit more untrustworthy than their 2nd-place standing would suggest. Regardless, they’re 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, and even put up 6 goals against a stout Winnipeg Jets defense. They’ve won their last 3 games and this one will wrap up their home stand. Meanwhile, the Caps couldn’t be further from home.

Washington took care of business in San Jose, but the Sharks aren’t exactly a juggernaut. Washington was also losing 2-0 after the 1st period of that game. Alex Ovechkin brings excitement to their games each night as he closes in on the all-time goals record, but the Caps are simply not a great team. They’re 3-7-0 in their last 10 games and are quickly falling out of playoff contention. Even if we get to see Ovechkin find the back of the net, the Kings should do so far more often.
