Colorado Avalanche 3-way ML (-105) over St. Louis Blues

A rematch of last season’s Western Conference second-round playoff series gets the huge Saturday of action started. The Avalanche won that series in 6 games, and St. Louis has not looked nearly as strong this season. That was already the case and trading away Vladimir Tarasenko to the New York Rangers didn’t help matters. He scored a goal in one of his first shifts with his new team, and the Blues need all the offense they can get.

That’s because goaltender Jordan Binnington has not looked strong, and they’ve allowed the 2nd-most goals per game over the last month. They haven’t been getting smashed by the Avs this season, but they have lost each of the last 2 meetings against them. Colorado is slowly working back up the Central Division standings after recently defeating the Minnesota Wild. It’s clear that Nathan MacKinnon is back at full strength, recording multiple points in 3 straight games. We’re expecting another big day for the captain and Avs overall.

Buffalo Sabres 3-way ML (+125) over San Jose Sharks

Now it’s time to head out west for a couple of games. We’ll have some time to relax after the Avs game for the Sabres to finish off their west-coast road trip. They’re coming off a dominant performance, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 7-2. While they may not be the most impressive win this season, the Sharks’ goaltending is right on par with the Ducks’. San Jose has allowed the 4th-most goals per game this season, and now has to deal with the Tage Thompson-led Sabres offense.

They’re just behind the Edmonton Oilers for the league’s highest-scoring team and are completely healthy. The trio of Thompson, Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch can give any defense fits. That’s what they did against the Sharks earlier this season in a 6-3 victory. Buffalo should simply be heavier favorites in this matchup, and taking the Sabres puck line for an even greater payout should also be considered. Regardless, we’ll back the more complete team to get the job done within the 60 minutes.

Tampa Bay Lightning 3-way ML (+125) over Vegas Golden Knights

Another game out west is our most confident play. The Lightning are coming off a shocking loss to a bad Arizona Coyotes team. It was just the second game to go to a shootout with a 0-0 score this season, and they were upset in the process. However, there is a very important note about that game. The Lightning had backup goaltender Brian Elliott in net, rather than all-world goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. Now facing the Pacific Division leaders, they’ll be out for blood.

Even with that bad loss, Tampa is still 6-2-2 in their last 10 as they look to make their 4th straight Stanley Cup Final. Vegas has certainly improved this season, but they’ve still been inconsistent. They scored just 2 goals against that bad Sharks goaltending we’ve already discussed in their most recent game. Similarly, they had a 4-game stretch to end January of scoring 2 or fewer goals. That’s not a recipe for success when facing the best goaltender over the last few years. The Lightning are full of too many veterans for the road trip to be a major factor, and we’ll support that experience leading to a bounce-back win.
