I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs saw 2 more tickets punched to the second round last night, and we’ll have 2 more today. That’s because we have 2 Game 7s featuring some of the outright favorites. The Boston Bruins were the best team in the NHL throughout the year, while the Colorado Avalanche are the defending Stanley Cup champions. Despite that, they’ve both been pushed to the brink. So, will they be able to prevail and live up to the expectations? Our NHL mega parlay is here to help answer that question while also potentially providing a great payday at the same time.

Boston Bruins -1.5 & over 6.5 (+280) vs Florida Panthers

Given the Bruins’ record-setting season, they certainly deserved to be the biggest favorites to advance to the second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, the Panthers were never going to be a pushover with their talented roster. Let’s not forget they were the Presidents’ Trophy winners just last season and have since added Matthew Tkachuk. That’s why we’re expecting yet another high-scoring matchup. Tkachuk is one of just a handful of skaters with double-digit points this postseason, as is Boston’s Brad Marchand.

Along with David Pastrnak’s 61-goal season, it’s no surprise goals have been increasing as this series has gone along. We saw 12 of them in Game 6, and we expect plenty tonight, except with the Bruins coming away with the win. Florida has been a formidable opponent, but now back at home in TD Garden, I have to trust Boston. The Bruins set an NHL record with 14 straight home wins to open the year; similarly, they ended the year with a ridiculous 34-4-3 home record. I see a 5-3 type of win for the Bruins to advance to the second round.

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 & over 5.5 (+240) vs Seattle Kraken

The defending-champion Avs weren’t nearly as dominant as the Bruins this year, but you’d be hard-pressed to find many fans who thought they’d fall in the first round to the Seattle Kraken. They’re in just the second year as a franchise, so it has certainly been an impressive run. Things seemed to be turning around for Colorado until the untimely suspension of top defender Cale Makar. They lost the following game, but then quickly returned to form in the game after that.

That was a smooth 4-1 win on the road, so now the series is back in Mile High, I expect another multi-goal victory. Their offense hasn’t been quite as explosive without Gabriel Landeskog, but that’s also why we’re getting a low total along with this combination play. Even still, the Avs still have the skating talent to go over 5.5 goals themselves. In fact, they’ve already done so in this series. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen each eclipsed 100 points this season, and Seattle has proved it can score on Colorado as well. This has been a much more exciting series than anticipated, but the elite talent of the Avs should prevail.
