There were just 3 NHL games last night, but we had some of the league’s best teams on the ice. Now, we get to follow that up with a huge Thursday evening. There’s a lot still to be settled in terms of the postseason sports, especially in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, it’s all about seeding for the top teams and 2 wild-card spots. That should make tonight’s matchups all the more interesting. We’ve checked out each one and found the most valuable plays to piece together for an incredible payout to potentially cover your bets for the weekend ahead.

New Jersey Devils 3-way ML (+125) over New York Rangers

One of the first games of the night features two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. These Metro Division rivals have already clinched their playoff berths, but there is still a lot to be gained in terms of the seeding. This will be the 4th meeting between the teams, and we’ve had great matchups each time. The Devils have the slight advantage in the previous meetings, winning 2 of the 3 by a combined score of 12-10.

This may be another close contest, but we’ll trust New Jersey on home ice. The Rangers are likely riding high after their 6-2 win on Tuesday, but that was against the NHL’s worst team in the Columbus Blue Jackets. On the flip side, the Devils will be looking to bounce back. However, they faced a great defensive team in the New York Islanders and have been off since that Monday matchup. With two stout goaltenders, we’re likely in for a low-scoring matchup. With goals difficult to come by, the superior offensive firepower of the Devils should make the difference.

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 (+120) over Detroit Red Wings

Staying on theme with the best teams in the Eastern Conference, we’re backing the Hurricanes with our next play. They’re the team the Devils and Rangers are trying to catch in the Metro Division. The Canes just experienced a very rare embarrassing loss when they were shut out by the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, with Andrei Vasilevskiy in net for Tampa, that’s nothing to be truly ashamed of. Regardless, the Wings are nowhere near the caliber of the Lightning. This provides the ‘Canes with the perfect opportunity to bounce back and maintain their division lead.

Carolina continues to be arguably the best defensive team in the NHL, and Detroit simply doesn’t have the firepower to penetrate. The Red Wings are likely riding high after their big win on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but there’s a reason the Pens are fighting for a wild-card spot while the Canes are sitting pretty. That loss to the Lightning should have sparked a fire under Carolina with the Devils now within 3 points. Prior to their win over Pittsburgh, Detroit was shut out by a weak Philadelphia Flyers team, so we fully expect a strong performance by the Hurricanes.

Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+140) over San Jose Sharks

Now it’s time to head out west. Like the Wings, the Sharks are likely feeling good about their recent win. They inexplicably held the Winnipeg Jets goalless, but that couldn’t be further from the norm for San Jose. They’ve allowed the 2nd-most goals per game in March and the 4th-most since the start of 2023. For perspective on just how shocking the Sharks recent win was, it was just their 20th of the season.

The Golden Knights have 46. Vegas has been atop the Pacific Division virtually all season but are in desperate need of fending off the surging Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers. They’ve done a fantastic job of that as of late, going 8-2-0 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, San Jose is a measly 1-6-3 in their last 10 matchups. Unsurprisingly, when the Knights visited the Sharks earlier this season, they won by multiple goals. This is simply a matchup of the Western Conference’s best and worst teams, so we’re confident in Vegas.
