I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. With such an incredible matchup on the horizon, we’ve provided you with our best Oilers vs. Avalanche Same Game Parlay picks for today. Along with our NHL Same Game Parlay picks, be sure to check out all of our NHL predictions for today’s action!

Oilers vs Avalanche Same Game Parlay (4/18)

Avalanche ML (-142)

Over 6.5 goals (-120)

Connor McDavid over 3.5 shots on goal (+120)

Same Game Parlay odds: +500

Colorado Avalanche ML over Edmonton Oilers (-142)

Despite the Oilers and Avalanche being a likely best-of-the-west matchup, these are 2 juggernauts that actually didn’t even win their respective divisions. Edmonton got off to a terrible start to the season, but thanks to a nearly record-setting win streak prior to the all-star break, they got back on track. Colorado hasn’t been nearly as dominant as their Stanley Cup run 2 seasons ago, but they still have Nathan MacKinnon, who looks set to win his first Hart Trophy for the league’s MVP.

With neither team having much to play for, this can be a difficult game to handicap, but we expect both squads to be looking to build some momentum into the playoffs and still feature their stars. They split their first 2 meetings of this season, but it’s been the Avs who have owned this matchup, winning 7 of the last 9 meetings. Colorado is also one of the most difficult places to play for visitors and Edmonton was just on the ice last night, so we’re starting our Oilers vs. Avalanche Same Game Parlay picks with Colorado to win.

Over 6.5 goals (-120)

Just like these teams split the first 2 meetings this season in terms of a winner, they did the same when it came to going over and under the total. However, over a longer stretch, we have primarily seen plenty of goals. That shouldn’t be too surprising given the star power on the ice. Between MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Cale Makar, just to name a few, how can we not expect fireworks? It’s also worth reiterating that Edmonton was just on the ice last night, which generally leads to higher-scoring games on the following night.

The Avs also seem to always light things up on home ice, as they lead the entire NHL with 4.18 goals per game at home. In fact, they’re above only the Oilers in that regard, so although the game isn’t in Edmonton, it’s safe to say that trusting McDavid and Draisaitl generally works out. Therefore, the 2nd leg of our Oilers vs. Avalanche Same Game Parlay picks for today is on a high-scoring game.

Connor McDavid over 3.5 shots on goal (+120)

If we’re expecting a high-scoring game, it only makes sense to finish off our Oilers vs. Avalanche Same Game Parlay picks with an offensive player prop. Of course, we could focus on a Colorado skater, but this approach provides a huge boost to our odds, as we’re targeting a skater on the opposite side of the team we’re predicting to win. Although we do anticipate an Avs victory, it certainly doesn’t mean that McDavid won’t have his moments. He’s had 2 goals against the Avs this season, and of course, he recently became just the 4th skater in NHL history to have 100+ assists in a single season.

However, we’re taking a different approach than either of those. MacKinnon leads the entire league in shots, but McDavid has been firing away when these teams meet, especially this season. In just 2 games against one another this season, McDavid has recorded 14 shots on goal. As he looks to pad his stats tonight, we’re going to add another high-volume shot night to our Oilers vs. Avalanche Same Game Parlay picks.
