Only 4 games have been played in each of the Conference Final series, and one of them has already seen handshakes. The Hurricanes would love for there to be more handshakes tonight, as they would end the series at home in just 5 games if they emerge victorious. If they hold to the form they displayed in Games 2-4, then Carolina should have no problem. However, the Canadiens have had more success on the road than at home in these playoffs, and their desperation will be at an all-time high. This should be an entertaining game to say the least.
I have picked out my Canadiens vs. Hurricanes Same Game Parlay picks for Game 5 on Friday, May 29, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Let’s get into the picks, and be sure to check out our NHL predictions for the game tonight and EVERY game throughout the playoffs.
Hurricanes -1.5 (+110)
Taylor Hall anytime goalscorer (+290)
Canadiens vs Hurricanes Same Game Parlay odds: +480
Canadiens vs Hurricanes parlay pick: Hurricanes -1.5 (+110)
Since game 1, the Hurricanes have dominated this series. There was the classic rest vs. rust conversation ahead of this series, as Montreal was fresh off another Game 7 win while Carolina had 12 days off following their second consecutive sweep. Rust showed itself in Game 1 with a loss to the Canadiens by a score of 6-2, but since that game, it has been all Hurricanes. Carolina has rattled off 3 straight wins while holding the Canadiens to just 43 shots total over that span. To put that into perspective, the Hurricanes had 43 shots alone in Game 4. To paint an even grimmer picture for the Canadiens, those 43 shots are a record for the fewest amount of shots across a 3-game span in playoff history per SportsNet Stats. The Hurricanes have put the clamp down.
With their 3-1 series lead, the Hurricanes are now 11-1 in this postseason with a +16 goal differential and +11.8 shots on goal per game. Carolina had much softer matchups than Montreal to get to this point, and it has started to show. The Canadiens beat phenomenal Lightning and Sabres teams, each in 7 games, but they look to be running out of gas. It is difficult to see Montreal climbing back in this one, especially on the road in a raucous Carolina environment to clinch the Hurricanes’ first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 20 years. The Hurricanes have had too much heartbreak and played too well to let this one slip away. They have looked determined to make it happen, and Friday should be the exclamation point.
Canadiens vs Hurricanes parlay pick: Taylor Hall anytime goalscorer (+290)
During the regular season, Taylor Hall’s 18 goals were 8th on the team and his 48 points were 7th on the team. In the playoffs, his 4 goals are tied for 2nd on the team, and his 13 points are tied for most on the team. The turning of the page from the regular season to the postseason has brought out the best play in this long-time veteran. Since coming to the Hurricanes, Hall has fit like a glove into this team, style and system. He has also bought into his role, which is not easy for a former Hart Trophy winner. With Hall’s performance, he has earned important minutes on the team’s 2nd line with Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake, as well as on the power play with them plus Nikolaj Ehlers and K’Andre Miller.
Hall’s line has been arguably the most reliable for the Hurricanes in these playoffs and has shined in big moments. Seeing them provide more production in a clinching game would not be remotely surprising. It would also be poetic for Hall to score, leading his team to the Stanley Cup Finals, considering he is 16 years into his NHL career and has never made it this far in the playoffs. This is a veteran player that is still contributing and is hungrier than ever to advance.
Hall is getting +290 odds to score while having the 2nd-most goals and the most points on the team this postseason. That is nice value; look for him to play with a ton of urgency tonight.
