The new, shiny, explosive weapon for the Philadelphia Eagles has been itching to debut with his new team. Saquon Barkley joins an already loaded offense with arguably the top wide receiver duo in the league in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and a quarterback in Jalen Hurts, who was in the MVP voting just 2 years ago. With a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, the whole offense is about to be revamped — that includes getting Barkley upwards of 18+ touches on Friday night behind one of the best offensive lines in the league, even without All-Pro Jason Kelce. Word out of camp is that Barkley has looked great in the passing game. He gives Jalen Hurts an outlet out of the backfield he’s never had. Backup running back Kenneth Gainwell has shown flashes in the passing game in his 3 years in the NFL, but Barkley brings this offense to a new level.
From a rushing standpoint, I’m banking on Barkley ripping off a few long runs. The Packers will have a new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley in charge, who was a former Boston College head coach. I expect a high-octane offensive approach from Kellen Moore, which centers around Saquon Barkley getting the football in space and unique ways out of the backfield.
