I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Panthers vs Rangers Same Game Parlay odds: +375

New York Rangers ML over Florida Panthers (-102)

After going 4-0 in overtime this postseason, the Rangers were finally taken down in extra time on Tuesday night. However, they get to head back home for Game 5, which is where we see them taking the 3-2 series lead. Ultimately, I won’t be surprised if this series gets extended to the full 7 games, but I certainly won’t complain about seeing these teams go at it for as long as possible.

Despite the loss, one key aspect of Game 4 was the Rangers power play. They hadn’t scored a goal with a man up all series, but that finally ended with Vincent Trocheck’s goal in the first period. New York owned those first 20 minutes, and Trocheck has been fantastic overall this postseason. Of course, so has Igor Shesterkin, which is also demonstrated in the odds to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. Even when the Panthers outshot the Rangers by over 60 goals in Game 3, New York still came away with the win thanks to Shesterkin. Look for the world-class netminder to lead the Rangers to yet another victory tonight.

Under 5.5 (-130)

The next leg is one that I haven’t strayed away from, and it’s treated us well. That would be yet another low-scoring game, which you wouldn’t think would be the case given all the overtime action. So even if we see an unprecedented 4th straight overtime matchup, we may still see just 3 goals scored like we did in the 2-1 Rangers overtime win in Game 2.

That was also on home ice, which is where Shesterkin has been even more dominant. Not only did he allow just 1 goal in that contest, but the same could also be said for Game 1. Although it was a 3-0 win for the Panthers, we saw an empty-net goal and an own goal for 2 of those goals. Even with those situations, 3 total goals are still easily under the 5.5 set for Game 5.

Mika Zibanejad Over 0.5 points (-190)

Although I don’t expect an abundance of goals to be scored, what little output there is will likely from the Rangers — and specifically from Mika Zibanejad. The Swede has been one of the lead point-scorers for New York the past several years and he has 14 so far this postseason. He nearly added to that total with another goal in Game 4, but the steel of the post kept him out despite getting past Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

Regardless, we are able to get value in the overall point market by adding it to our Panthers vs Rangers Same Game Parlay picks, but we wouldn’t mind a standalone play on him finding the back of the net at better than +250 odds! Whether he ends up feeding Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider or recording a goal himself, a point is all we need. Him doing so should help lead the Rangers to a Game 5 win in what I expect to be low scoring overall.
