MLB pick today: Baltimore Orioles ML over Chicago Cubs (-120), 1:05 pm ET

Baltimore and Chicago wrap up a series this afternoon, with the Cubs having won both games so far. The pitching matchup leans in the direction of the Orioles, if only a little. The Orioles send Dean Kremer to the mound, who has been surprisingly good most of the season, including allowing 3 or fewer runs in 4 of his last 5 outings.

He will be countered by Jameson Taillon, who has struggled most of the year and carries a 6.70 ERA. He has given up 3 or more runs in 4 of his last 5 games. Given Taillon’s struggles, backing the Orioles to salvage a win in the series finale will be our play.

MLB pick today: St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets – Under 9.5 runs (-122), 1:40 pm ET

The Cardinals and Mets complete their series this afternoon after splitting the first 2 games. The Mets won 6-1 on Friday, while the Cardinals won 5-3 on Saturday. Neither game has gone over today’s run total, and that has a lot to do with the struggling offenses for both teams.

The pitching matchup is Matt Liberatore versus Carlos Carrasco, who both have ERAs above 5.00. Liberatore turned in a quality start in his last outing, however, and Carrasco has recorded a quality start in 2 of his last 5. That’s nothing impressive, but there is reason to hope that both guys can hold it down today. Because both offenses have been struggling, backing the under will be our play.

MLB pick today: Los Angeles Angels vs Kansas City Royals – Over 9.5 runs (-110), 2:10 pm ET

Neither pitcher scheduled to start today has been very good lately. Zack Greinke is clearly in the twilight of his career, and he has given up 8 runs in his last 2 starts. He rarely goes beyond 5 innings either, and any time the Royals’ bullpen gets involved, that is risky business. The Angels will start Tyler Anderson, who has given up 5, 4, and 6 earned runs in his last 3 starts. With both pitchers struggling, backing the over will be our play.

CONCACAF Nations League Final pick today: Canada vs USA – Tie (+210), 8:30 pm ET

The USMNT played a great match to beat Mexico 3-0 in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Nations League A tournament, but the worry is that it came at such a cost that the Stars & Stripes are not in the best shape for tonight’s final. Team USA lost 2 key players for the game against Canada due to red cards in midfielder Weston McKennie and defender Sergino Dest.

Canada, in contrast, had a much more straightforward semifinal against Panama, winning 2-0 with goals from key men Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies, and the Canucks will be looking forward to this test having earned a home win and a tie on the road against the States when the teams met in qualifying for the last World Cup.

The USMNT still has hopes of glory, boosted by the promising debut of Folarin Balogan and with a home crowd behind them, but the absence of McKennie and Dest certainly makes this a tougher test and it may take extra-time to separate the teams.
