Sunday's NHL mega parlay: There are some great games tonight despite a small slate

Carolina center Sebastian Aho top-scored with 38 regular season goals for the Canes last season.

There are 5 games this evening in the NHL. We’re looking to parlay 3 of them into a wager that will hopefully pay out at just over 12/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. But before we dive in, be sure to check out all of our picks and previews for every game tonight.

Panthers vs Avalanche over 6.5 goals (-111)

Wild ML vs Golden Knights (+135)

Hurricanes -1.5 vs Canucks (+185)

Parlay odds: +1252

Let’s break down each of the legs one by one.

Florida Panthers vs Colorado Avalanche over 6.5 goals (-111)

These are 2 of the best offensive teams in the NHL right now. The Avalanche are scoring the most goals per game with 4.38, while the Panthers are scoring the second-most with 3.77. Both teams have incredible offensive talent with multiple players scoring more than a point per game. The Avs in their last 10 games have scored 5.2 goals per game, but have also been allowing 3.8 goals per game in that stretch. Their defensive numbers haven’t been great, and the Panthers could expose that. With the offensive talent on either side, one team is likely going to be playing catchup. It’s hard to imagine either team letting off the gas pedal.

In their last 10 games, the Avs have been allowing more than 4 minor penalties per game while the Panthers have been allowing 3.5. If this game features a lot of powerplay chances, there should be some fireworks. Colorado’s last 4 games have had more than 8 goals, and the over has been hit in 6 of their last 7. Four of Florida’s last 5 games have hit the over too. Both these teams tend to score in bunches, and neither has an elite defense. Take the over.

Minnesota Wild ML vs Vegas Golden Knights (+135)

The Minnesota Wild’s 8-game win streak came to an end last night. They’ll be looking to get right back on track with a victory. They had their backup goaltender starting for them last night, which is a good sign for bettors tonight. Cam Talbot, the starter for the Wild, is currently posting a 15-5-0 record with a 2.59 GAA and .920 SVP. He’s been having a fantastic year and has won his last 6 starts. After winning 8 straight games, it’s surprising to see them as such big underdogs. Oddsmakers may be overvaluing home-ice advantage for the Knights as well as maybe having too much concern over possible fatigue since the Wild played last night. However, this team is likely too good to lose 2 in a row and right now they’re hungry. In their last 10 games, the Wild have allowed just 2.1 goals per game while the Knights have allowed 3 per game. The Wild have been playing some of the best hockey in the league, so take them to win tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 vs Vancouver Canucks (+185)

The Canucks might be flying too close to the sun. Since hiring their new head coach, the team has won 3 in a row, but they’re playing one of the best teams in the league tonight. This feels like a game in which the Canucks fall back to reality and have a tough loss. The Hurricanes are not only on a 4-game win streak, but they have one of the best away records in the NHL. Through 16 road games, the Hurricanes have gone 12-3-1. The Canucks have gone just 6-7-1 at home this season. Despite the Canucks winning 3 in a row, this is a mismatch on paper, even with the Hurricanes starting their backup goaltender. The Hurricanes are the best defensive team in the league and for them it rarely matters who’s playing in the net because their defense is so strong. They allow just 2.15 goals per game and just 27 shots per game, both of which are the lowest figures in the league. The Canes are a legitimate threat to win the Stanley Cup this year, while the Canucks are trying to put their season back together. Vancouver has been doing well but they’re running into a very good team that has been playing some great hockey. Take the Hurricanes on the puck line.
