Super Bowl Opening Lines

Eagles vs Chiefs (pk) | Total: 48.5

This line got hit immediately with Philly money, moving it all the way up to Eagles -2.5 before we started to see a little resistance. I was wrong with my initial market prediction, and I thought we might see some early Chiefs money considering Patrick Mahomes’ ankle made it through the game relatively unscathed, but that was not the case. I didn’t think the Eagles looked overly impressive on Sunday against the Niners considering the circumstances of San Francisco’s quarterback situation.

Taking that into consideration, I do believe we see buyback on Kansas City as a small underdog at some point over the next two weeks, especially if some of their ailing wide receivers trend in a positive direction health-wise. Maybe it doesn’t get back to a pick’em, but I do not see this getting to 3 unless there is negative injury news for the Chiefs. If it does touch 3, I will likely be making another wager on Kansas City. Considering the lookahead number on this game was Eagles -1, that’s a good stopping point for where this market could inevitably fall.

The total got quickly brought up and touched the key number of 51 before we saw some buyback to the under. At the time of publication, it was sitting at 49.5, which seems like a fair starting point until we see who is practicing for the Chiefs next week. If everyone is trending in a positive direction, especially Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, I can see this total getting back to 51.
