As of late August 1, the odds for the 2025 Super Bowl Champion are top-heavy. Depending on the sportsbook, the Ravens and Bills are at the top of most lists (+600 to +750) and the Eagles are close behind (+700 to +800). The rest of the top of the class are familiar residents: Chiefs and Lions, and it trails off from there.
I tend to think there are more dark horses this year and more parity in the league in general. Many teams showed serious signs of ascension in 2024 and they only got better during the offseason: Commanders, Broncos, Buccaneers and Rams come to mind.
Meanwhile, many of last season’s top teams lost key members of their roster and coaching staff. Detroit lost 8 assistant coaches and their All-Pro center, Frank Ragnow, retired. The Eagles lost their offensive coordinator, linebacker Josh Sweat, EDGE Milton Williams, and EDGE Brandon Graham retired. And the Chiefs lost their stalwart lineman, Joe Thuney, while their #1 wide receiver, Rashee Rice, has a jail sentence and suspension awaiting. Whether all these offseason changes mean anything remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that the top teams aren’t what they used to be.

Super Bowl 60 contenders
Buffalo Bills (+700)

Not far behind the Ravens at the top of the betting board to win Super Bowl 60 are the Buffalo Bills, the same outfit that played mistake-free football and booted Baltimore out of the playoffs last season. Buffalo still owns one of the NFL’s best rosters, even if they lost WR Amari Cooper, EDGE Von Miller and CB Rasul Douglas. EDGE Joey Bosa was one of the biggest signings of the offseason, and they packed their defense with more veteran talent and depth. I like their chances this year, too, but the Ravens will own the almighty revenge factor, which tends to matter in this league, and Josh Allen’s seasons have been known to produce far more volatility.

Kansas City Chiefs (+850)

Last year’s AFC champions are entering the 2025 season with a different energy, one riddled by loss (like guard Thuney, who’s now in Chicago) and controversy (Travis Kelce’s getting old, and lead wide-receiver Rice is likely to serve jail time soon). In 2024, their offense was average to mediocre in many categories, and now they’re lighter in their front and at the talent positions. Their defense remains intact and will likely lead the charge for KC again, but I can’t expect positive regression from Patrick Mahomes and company.
Philadelphia Eagles (+750)

Oh, and the Eagles? Yes, they’re 3rd in most Super Bowl odds, and they remain the most stacked roster in the NFC. But teams like Detroit, Green Bay and even Dallas could be threatening this year. I’m bullish on the 49ers’ comeback tour, too. With Dak Prescott back in Dallas and Jayden Daniels leading a new revolution in Washington, Jalen Hurts could be the 3rd-best thrower in the NFC East this season.

Super Bowl 60 best bet: Baltimore Ravens (+650)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The team that looks primed to finally go the distance is the Baltimore Ravens. Last year, Baltimore was a premier offense in every way; 1st in yards per pass and yards per rush, top-3 in most categories, and excellent on 3rd down and in the red zone, too. Other than their well-documented upset losses (Baltimore lost to the Raiders and Browns, 2 of the worst teams last year), the Ravens were at the top of the Super Bowl odds all last season. A bad half of turnovers and early deficit was too much to overcome in the Divisional Round, but the Ravens are still the top team to fear in the AFC — as they should be.
The Ravens lost Brandon Stephens and Josh Jones, both good pass protectors, but retain the core members of their front. Derrick Henry proved to be the perfect fit in 2024 (1,921 yards, 2nd-most overall), and they added veteran WR DeAndre Hopkins, among the most elite pass-catchers of the last decade. Their defense also picked up Jaire Alexander, as if they needed any help in an already talent-stacked secondary. Roquan Smith is one of the game’s best defensive leaders (81 total tackles in 2024, 11th), and their front-seven is growing before our eyes (6th in sack-rate last season).
The Ravens are as legitimate as they’ve ever been, and if any season was set up for Baltimore to win it all, I believe it’s this one. Although, I would recommend you wait until Week 4 or Week 5 to invest; Baltimore has a really tough opening schedule against the Bills, Browns, Lions and Chiefs.
