Good morning, Pickswise Nation. The Chiefs and Chargers served up a close contest as expected last night, with Los Angeles getting a backdoor cover in a 3-point loss but at the expense of quarterback Justin Herbert sustaining a rib injury. We have another action-packed Friday of sports ahead with a big baseball slate, college football games, LIV golf and EPL soccer action. Let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Chiefs beat Chargers, Herbert hurt
Pickswise cashed our picks for the side and total on Thursday Night Football, taking Chargers +4.5 and under 54 points as the Chiefs beat the Chargers 27-24. Our expert Clevta also had under 27 in the first half as his 3-star Best Bet. The biggest play of the game was a 99-yard pick-6 for Kansas City rookie Jaylen Watson after the Chargers had looked the better team in the first half. The worry for the Chargers was a rib injury sustained by QB Justin Herbert, with the team waiting on an assessment of the problem today. FanDuel Sportsbook has the 2-0 Chiefs at +700 odds for the Super Bowl behind only +500 Buffalo, with the 1-1 Chargers at +1600. The Chiefs are -105 odds for the AFC West with the Chargers at +260.

MLB Best Bet is a winner
Our only 3-star MLB play on Thursday of the Twins ML vs the Royals cashed as Minnesota won 3-2. The White Sox beat the Guardians 8-2 to make the AL Central even more interesting, while the Rays closed to within 1 win of the Blue Jays by beating them 11-0. There were a couple of late upsets, with the Reds beating the Cardinals 3-2 and the Diamondbacks shutting out the Padres 4-0.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Boston Red Sox -1.5 over Kansas City Royals
7:10 pm ET

The Kansas City Royals have been eliminated from playoff contention and the same should soon apply to the Boston Red Sox as they start a 3-game series tonight. The Red Sox have lost 6 of their last 8 games, while the Royals are 3-7 in their last 10. The advantage in this game goes to the Red Sox and it lies with the starting pitchers. The Royals are projected to start Jonathan Heasley while the Red Sox will counter with Michael Wacha. The separation between these right-handed pitchers can be seen in their last 7 starts. Heasley is 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA with a 1.79 WHIP. Compare that to Wacha’s last 7 starts, in which he’s a perfect 5-0 with a 3.24 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. Read our full Royals vs Red Sox predictions.
