Good morning, Pickswise Nation. After 4 teams took the court for opening night of the 2022-23 NBA season on Tuesday, we have a huge slate with 12 games today. Both championship series in the MLB postseason are being showcased and we also have a midweek college football game on the schedule. It’s another humongous day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

Yankees and Phillies win, so does Pickswise
The Yankees won a second straight elimination game, coming back from 2-1 down to beat the Guardians in the ALDS with a 5-1 victory on Tuesday. In the NLCS, the Phillies picked up a 2-0 road win over the Padres in Game 1 on solo homers by Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. The Pickswise experts cashed a 2-leg parlay at +229 and also hit a Same Game Parlay on Yankees-Guardians at +614 odds.

Warriors begin title defense by blasting Lakers
Opening night in the NBA saw the defending champion Warriors celebrate their ring ceremony by cruising past the Lakers 123-109. Stephen Curry went for 33 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. That result was preceded by the reigning Eastern Conference champion Celtics beating the 76ers 126-117.

Today’s Slate

Game 1 in the ALCS, Game 2 in the NLCS
There will be no rest for the weary, as the Yankees get right back in action to contest Game 1 of the ALCS in Houston on Wednesday. In the NLCS, San Diego will try to bounce back and even things up against Philadelphia. Be sure to read all of our MLB previews.

Night 2 in the NBA features Knicks vs Grizzlies on ESPN
The first full daily schedule of the 2022-23 NBA season is upon us. New York and Memphis are squaring off on ESPN at 7:30 pm ET, while the Nets, Heat, Nuggets, Mavericks and Suns are also in action. Don’t miss any of our NBA picks.

Quality over quantity in NHL
The Flyers are a surprising 3-0-0 on this young NHL season after taking down Tampa Bay 3-2 on Tuesday. Now they make a quick trip to the Panthers, which is part of a small 3-game schedule on the ice. You can find all of our hockey coverage on the NHL page.

NCAAF Week 8 begins with Georgia State vs App State
We are wasting no time diving into the college football Week 8 slate, which will kick off on Wednesday night with a showdown in the Sun Belt Conference. Here is our Georgia State vs Appalachian State preview.

Best Bet of the Day

NBA: Charlotte Hornets vs San Antonio Spurs Over 229 (-110)
8:00 pm ET

A high-scoring affair should be the result when the Charlotte Hornets and San Antonio Spurs tip off their season. In 2021-22 they both ranked in the NBA’s top in field-goal attempts per game. With neither Charlotte and San Antonio having a scoring threat in the low post, look for both to attack in transition and showcase a steady diet of cuts to the basket. They faced each other twice last season and each contest reached the 240-point mark. Look for San Antonio’s Keldon Johnson in particular to have a big scoring game on Wednesday. His bulk and physicality at the forward positions will likely give the Hornets a lot of trouble. Back the over with confidence. Read our full Hornets vs Spurs predictions.

Stat of the Day

The Rockets were dead last by a mile in scoring defense last season, giving up 118.2 points per game. They were also 2-13 SU in their last 15 road games. That doesn’t bode well for their opener in Atlanta, where the Hawks were sixth in scoring during the 2021-22 campaign (113.9 ppg) and added Dejounte Murray in the offseason.

Quote of the Day

“This is the first time I’ve ever played on Wednesday night since I was in middle school. So that’s a little bit unusual for me, as well. But once gameday gets here, everything kind of flows into place.”

— Georgia State head coach Shawn Elliott said heading into his team’s game tonight at Appalachian State. The visiting Panthers are 10-point underdogs.
