Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

It took a field goal in the last second, but the Cincinnati last night moved to 3-1 on the 2021 NFL season after edging past Jacksonville in a thrilling Thursday Night Football where both Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence were able to strut their stuff. Meanwhile the race to make the MLB playoffs is getting more chaotic by the day. Let’s get into all of it!

About Last Night

Bengals claw out big win over Jaguars
Cincinnati bounced back from a 14-0 deficit at half time to beat Jacksonville 24-21, courtesy of a last-second field goal. Trevor Lawrence looked a lot better, while Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase continued their strong rapport, but it was tight end CJ Uzomah who stole the show with 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. Make sure you read our expert betting reaction to Thursday Night Football.

Braves win NL East, wild-card chaos ensues
For the fourth straight year the Atlanta Braves have won the NL East, wrapping up the division with a 5-3 win over the Phillies last night. The Braves have been in great form in the second half of the season, and are now +1400 to win the World Series with FanDuel Sportsbook. Meanwhile, the AL wild card race keeps getting hotter and hotter, with the Red Sox and Mariners now tied for the second wild-card spot, while the Blue Jays are just one game behind them. We could be heading to some tiebreaker games for the wild-card spot if they are all tied up at the end of the season. That means bonus baseball, ladies and gentlemen!

Today’s Slate

MLB playoff race continues
We’re three games away from the end of the season, and for some teams, every win matters. That applies to the Dodgers, who are still fighting with all they’ve got to win the NL West despite being two games back. They meet the Brewers tonight in a must-win game. The Giants meanwhile meet the Padres, who have won just one of their last 10 games. You can find out our picks and predictions for all 15 of today’s games.

Trio of college football games
After Virginia’s narrow win over Miami last night, we’ve got three more college football games to get excited for tonight. Houston battles Tulsa, while we have a battle of 4-0 teams between Iowa and Maryland, plus BYU taking on Utah State. Check out who we’re siding with for each of those games, as well as our picks for all of Saturday’s huge CFB matchups.

Best Bet of the Day

Philadelphia Phillies vs Miami Marlins under 7 runs
7:10pm ET

The Phillies have averaged 1.5 runs in their last four games, while the Marlins have averaged 2.38 runs in their last eight games. Both offenses have been struggling in recent weeks and their offenses rank 20th and 30th in batting average in the last 15 days. Pitching should be the story of this game since Suarez and Alcantara are the two best starters for each team. Read our full preview for tonight’s game here.

Stat of the Day

White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn allowed 6 runs in his last start, but this season he has allowed just 1 earned run in 3 starts following an outing in which he allowed 4 or more.

Boost of the day

Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees both to win

FanDuel Sportsbook has boosted the odds from +170 to +220 for the Red Sox to beat the Nationals and the Yankees to beat the Rays. Both Boston and New York are battling hard to book their spots in the MLB playoffs and that motivation could turn into victory.
