Lions vs Panthers Same Game Parlay: Best SGP Picks
Week 4 of the NFL season continues with Sunday Night Football between the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers. Detroit is 2-1 with a loss only to a high-powered Buffalo squad. Carolina (1-2) is back at home for the first time since its season opener, when it allowed 59 points to Chicago.
I kicked off Week 4 by cashing my +750 Same Game Parlay for Steelers vs Browns on Thursday Night Football. Here is my SGP for Sunday’s primetime festivities, which get underway at 8:20 pm ET on NBC. Also, be sure to check out our full Panthers vs Lions predictions.
Panthers ML (+154)
Bryce Young to record 250+ passing yards (+106)
Jared Goff Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-179)
Parlay odds: +625
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Carolina quarterback Bryce Young having a big night through the air would obviously work well with a Panthers victory. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Detroit QB Jared Goff to toss a couple scoring strikes. But even if he does, there is no reason why the home team can’t get the job done. Let’s break down each of the three legs.
NFL Parlay Pick: Carolina Panthers ML over Detroit Lions (+154)
Neither team has been particularly impressive so far. The Lions are 2-1, but they just barely beat New Orleans 31-10 in overtime and defeated the Jets by a mere seven points last weekend. Their only previous road trip resulted in a 41-31 loss at Buffalo. Carolina has underwhelmed, too, but it has good value as a sizable home underdog. Young is in fine form and this is a defense that – despite being inconsistent – we know can play well at times (such as during a 34-3 victory over Atlanta in Week 2).
NFL Parlay Pick: Bryce Young to record 250+ passing yards (+106)
Young averages 313 passing yards per game through three weeks with seven touchdowns compared to two interceptions. The Alabama product has exceeded this quota on all three occasions – and has done so with ease. There is no reason to think that Detroit will be the team to suddenly slow him down, as head coach Dan Campbell’s outfit ranks dead last in the NFL in passing defense by giving up 299.3 yards per game.
NFL Parlay Pick: Jared Goff Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-179)
Carolina is last in the league in rushing defense, allowing 193.3 yards per contests. Given that Detroit boasts one of the best running backs in football in Jahmyr Gibbs, the Panthers’ only prayer of containing him is to stack the box. That should open things up for Goff, who has thrown multiple touchdown passes in all three games so far this season – including four at the Bills’ expense in Week 2.
