NBA Best Bets Today: November 6 Picks & Predictions
The week on the professional hardwood continues on Friday with a must-see nine-game slate that is headlined in part by 76ers vs Cavaliers, Thunder vs Grizzlies and Trail Blazers vs Lakers.
Here are my three best bets on the schedule. Make sure you also check out all of our NBA picks for every game on Friday and throughout the entire season.
NBA best bet: Philadelphia 76ers -1.5 over Cleveland Cavaliers (-114)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The new-look 76ers have already defeated the Cavs once this season – and to say that it was memorable would be an understatement. Philly erased a 29-point deficit en route to a 114-106 victory on October 22. The scene shifts to Cleveland for the rematch, but that won’t necessarily change a whole lot. The Cavs just lost to the Thunder at home and have lost two straight overall and three of their last four. Starters Jarrett Allen and Peyton Watson are both questionable for Friday’s contest. Philadelphia, on the other hand, is 8-1, has won five in a row and is not dealing with any injuries. The LeBron James and Jaylen Brown era could not be off to a better start. Expect their early-season momentum to continue.
NBA best bet: Dallas Mavericks -6.5 over Utah Jazz (-115)
Odds available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Jazz are 1-7, tying them for last place in the entire NBA. Two of their last three losses have come by at least 22 points. Their only victory has come at home against a mediocre New Orleans squad, and that was back on October 23. Utah is 0-3 on the road and lost by 20 or more in two of those three games. The Jazz can actually be pretty good when Jaren Jackson Jr is on the floor. Unfortunately, JJJ is sidelined for perhaps as long as two months with a torn MCL. Without him, Utah is not good at all in the frontcourt. Dallas can be somewhat vulnerable against opponents with great post presences, but that won’t be a problem against Utah. Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg should be good enough to help the Mavericks win this one without too much trouble.
NBA best bet: Portland Trail Blazers vs Los Angeles Lakers Over 233.5 (-112)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Trail Blazers and Lakers have already gone head-to-head once this season, and it was also in Los Angeles. Last Tuesday's contest saw L.A. prevail 136-129 – yes, that is a total of 265 points for those counting. Luka Doncic delivered a game-high 41 points, while Portland had four guys exceed the 20-point mark (Deni Avdija, Damian Lillard, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday). There is no reason to think that a whole lot will be different in the rematch. After all, these are the two highest-scoring teams in the NBA right now; the Blazers are #1 at 121.9 ppg and the Lakers are right behind them at 121.8 ppg. The over is 4-0 in the Lakers’ last four home games and it is also 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams.
